I might be talking out of my ass, but I think Cover lost all permissions to Konami games after the Holo-caust, which is why Pekora's legendary MGS streams are all gone. A lot of JP companies simply will not play ball with them anymore. Bandai Namco is another one.

Gura doesn't utilize membershrimp as much as some others, but I still feel the members-only karaokes, more personal chats/zatsudans, watch-alongs, etc have easily been worth $5 a month. I can get them off nyaa, but it is more about supporting the talent than content (for us who know where to find it anyways). Besides that, I don't send SC, so it's a way to support them without having to do that too.




That's kind of sad since at least myself enjoy watching some of them with my kids. Usually as long the game she is playing isn't bad, I can watch Gura's streams with them. She occasionally let's a swear slip, but that happens in real life too so they know how to deal with it and not to copy at this point in life. And since it isn't a constant deluge of fucks like Calli or Kiara, it isn't a big deal. I personally don't really like the kind of people who just swear constantly anyway, so I don't watch their streams with or without kids around either.

Pika is naturally kid friendly though so I wouldn't worry about it.

But I get where she's coming from honestly. And I can imagine Fubuki, who has a much bigger issue with spammers than Luna might think twice to activate it as well.

While the member's only content concern the thread has is valid, the security and spamming is a non-issue if Cover finally gets their shit together about moderation. Even if youtube is completely retarded in their criteria for who in the audience is eligible for gifts, a mod team can resolve issues like a bot or two getting through to member's only chat very quickly. If you look at a streamer somewhere else of comparable size to the lowest end of HoloJP's viewcount (~2.5k), these issues are resolved in under a minute. Hell, OnigiriEN is live right now with 800 viewers and has 5 mods listed as active in her chat. I've been in Aki streams that obviously had 0 by what was getting through.

Plus, most spambot attacks don't even account for the "you must have been subscribed to this channel for at least 15 minutes to chat" option. When you're dealing with spammers and antis you'd be surprised how effective a seemingly low barrier to entry like that can be. The dramafags willing to send in 100 dollars to get streamers to read their shit are 0.01% of these people.

With the amount of money this is going to make they could even pay the jannies.

I'm not 100% sure it will be able to usurp the established donation culture in V-Tubing, and I'm also not sure it's something the Japanese fans will be too inclined to engage in anyway.

From the stories I've heard about SEA MMOs, this seems like the perfect audience for a feature like this. Oil Balons would get bigger reactions from the chat and streamer by giving 100 gift subs than giving 500 dollars.

Not to derail too much, but I think people underestimate just how much Konami would cost. They literally own entire casinos (or the retarded Diet Gambling variants), have their hands in all sorts of hardware, have the rights to Yu-Gi-Oh! and produce other TCGs. They'd cost a fortune.

SEGA, too, has companies under its umbrella like RGG and ATLUS, owns arcades and creates arcade hardware on a global scale, they have movie productions in their IPs. You have to factor in all these things when outright acquiring a company. Bungie is successful at creating software so the transaction is smoother and (probably) less expensive.

That doesn't mean I don't want Konami to relinquish Suikoden, though. Someone please buy that.

EDIT: Just took a look and apparently the YGO franchise is worth $20B and Konami have the rights to anime dubbing, the TCG, and the video games. Buying Konami also means Sony would have to wrestle with the final boss of retarded Japanese corporations - Toei.
