Oh. I guess when coming across this post, I'm supposed to feel a twinge of guilt about "trolling," which is what they call "archiving shit people post by themselves online" now. I could never understand why vtubers would have le sekrit Discords and shit until someone pointed out to me that it could be a really effective strategy to increase engagement in the community. People will presumably be more active in hopes of being invited and thereby getting closer to their oshi. More art, music and good clips etc would be produced for free as a result as well. While you do risk pissing people off, even that could be seen simply in terms of metrics if you're cold-hearted enough. I'm not sure if anyone does this deliberately, but I thought it was an interesting perspective that I hadn't thought about.

On the bigger scale, it is a way for the talents to vent about work related shit or discuss things to watch or even talk about other vtubers. The problem comes when that same discord is open to the public. On a smaller corpo scale it is an amazing tool for engagement. Phase and up to a certain point HavenX (its mostly dead now) have used this to their advantage. When the girls do a Twitter space to talk shit, the discord is used as "chat". Also, the talents can pop in every so often and interact with the fans. Talents interacting with the fans is one of the biggest attractive points of the indie/small corpo scene. In the case of HavenX, Roza had a few people that would help her with Thumbnails every so often. Its a good way to involve the community in the creative process.

I have been keeping Nagzz in the background waiting for the vtuber clip submission thing he does for his React channel. While some of the banter and reactions to chat spamming the same old jokes gets really tiresome, there are certain members of his community that do stand out and he talks to them and tells them to fuck off. That is the type of interaction that will make it so that chat keeps coming back and it's something that the bigger corpos don't really get to do often. He also has a subreddit in which he reads and talks about further increasing engagement. People want to post because they know their shit will get reacted to which adds even more to the chat interaction.

TLDR Overall in a bigger corpo scale it could lead to problems but if you are small enough there are only benefits to having one as it can help you grow. Larger talents can keep personal groups open to chatting with each other privately and vent. But as Pippa mentioned, yesterday you should avoid posting anything you wouldn't be want to be leaked. Seems its common for discord to fuck up and show up on stream, or get easily leaked.

I actually think that's very likely - I can't find the screenshot now, but I vaguely remember the original issue with the pride month icon was that the owner felt like it was pointless virtual signalling and instead started a charity drive for a group that help LGBT individuals escape countries that persecute them. I feel like I remember the server owner actually saying he was a member of the LGBT community in his explanation.

This is all off my admittedly very shaky memory and I can't look at old announcements in the Pomucord now. Don't take it too seriously unless someone digs up proof, I guess.

Because the veracity of a secret Discord's existence is still speculation. Valoguard is a public Discord that her manager knows about, and she is not part of the Finana Discord. Even @reinigen is only speculating that it isn't out the realm of possibility that one exists and not that one definitely does, which is fair. Nobody shat on Rushia because of accusations, people shat on Rushia because hard evidence came out that it was true and nobody knew about it until they did. There is also currently nothing archived about the effect it has had on her wider community because, as I mentioned, her ccv is the same or better than it has always been when she isn't spamming run-of-the-mill mobile tower defense gacha games.

Of all her streams this entire month, only three of them have been something that is neither a gacha, a sponsored stream, or a collab, and all three of them were her best-performing streams. Even so, her monthly donations haven't been that much lower than during months where she does vary her content more often and open herself up to more regular streams where donations are allowed.
