General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Tomoshika keeps getting Supa bullied during her English studies.
It’s funny, though she’s the only Vtuber I’ve seen use the “get mad at your audience for giving you money“ response successfully

For whatever reason Towa and Aki's new original songs aren't posted to their own channels.

Here's Towa's:

They're available on alot of subscription streaming platforms. I assume alot peeps here already sub to Spotify Premium or similar.

I do wonder why Kiara is being singled out. One would think weird shit going on with the channel like Coco's bug infestation or Haachama using horni fanart as thumbnails would have the Google puritans going for their throat (even if YouTube still makes bank off their superchats; i don't have to state the obvious).

I know just chalking stuff up to "The Algorithm" is the norm, but those still follow basic orders, if it comes after you, you did something that at some point, YouTube believed is a "no-no", the question is how does she find out so she can fix it?
It is pretty shitty for her.
So close, then this happens for no discernable reason.

Another thing is that Kiara should just try to reinforce her EU fan base vs clinging to JP with her “prime time streaming” for JP vs EU. Might as well pick up another language like French to get into that eccentric audiences. A few Mario Kart with her EU fan base or try to get permission to stream racing games like Need For Speed etc.

I think she knows a little French, but not enough to be fluent with it.

Is there any reason why she struggle at the start? I dont think any "towa incident" happen with her.
schizos back from /jp/ (and now /vt/) would say it's because "she only spoke Japanese and sprinkled English to catch up her EOP audience during her debut and kept talking about Pekora" (which isn't completely true). Or it could be because her 2nd hand mic from Calli sounded like shit and along with that people here and everywhere else I've been lurking for vtuber discussion occasionally bring up they couldn't really get into watching Kiara because of her voice. I've also heard people just dislike her design which could be alleviated if Cover ever lets her get a 2nd outfit from Huke-papa- which I'm sure the guy has like a billion of them drafted up and ready to submit to Cover should they ever give an okay to it. Really she's (unfortunately) one of the weaker links on the EN crew due to a few factors that seem just slightly out of her control.
How long until Kiara starts numberfagging again?
She's a Nousagi, it is in their nature to focus on numbers like their oshi.

Most people assume that not even Youtube knows with their fucking shitty AI. I would have said her stream lengths- which are typically bloated because she turns it into mini-zatsus with the superchat readings- but marathon streamers like Lulu and Korone don't get the youtube deep mind AI to zap them into the shadow realm to my knowledge. Kiara guessed it was her putting out like 4 community polls (which apparently influence the algorithm) at once which might've flagged her as a spam channel during her stream when she got back home. I would guess that too but maybe mentioning TOR on those polls had some influence with shadow banning her whole channel?

I know it gets brought up a lot about Pekora focusing on numbers a lot, and I hate to be that guy who begs for sources, but do you have them? I’m genuinely just curious about that characterization because I hear it all the time but usually in anti posting. Probably some nugget of truth but I haven’t watched enough Pekora to notice. Was this an earlier thing like Kiara?

About Pekora I think because the coming out story that she's a vtuber to her mom if she got 1Mil subs. For Kiara I don't know why she even care about her subs very much like she already release 2 songs.

An old rrat I put away, but have taken out again to play with recently is "Gura is ESL." On a stream last week, she said that she had trouble with tenses when she was learning English and a lot of her spelling and pronunciation mistakes seem more like the influence of another language rather than just being a dumbass, such as spelling idol as "idoru" in her debut, though that could have been her just fucking around. Maybe she was a foreign orphan adopted by a Nantucket family?
She might be part flip. There are a lot of naval bases in Massachusetts and Navy guys are infamous for taking Filipino wives and a lot of Filipino men joined the US navy around the time of Filipino independence to get out (plus Filipino-Americans join the Navy at a higher rate than you might expect because the career opportunities are good). So possibly she grew up in a multilingual household and her tense mistakes are just a side-effect of her code switching.

Yes, and that second group is what gave rise to the Filipino Mafia. Them always being in charge of Supply depots is uncannily on point.
Still, I don’t think she is ESL. Plenty of white kids growing up that I knew/know are like that. She might have anything from AD/HD (and couldn’t get spelling down like my Mom), a processing disability, or even dyslexia. Her accent is pretty New England.

Nah. You're more likely to find a Flip male nurse in Massachusetts than a Flip navy guy. Massachusetts naval yards aren't huge - certainly not as big as actual naval bases like in Virginia and Carolina - which have thriving Flip communities due to the abundance of Flip Navy guys putting down roots in the area. The Flip community in Massachusetts is relatively small and mostly composed of medical professional transplants like nurses, doctors, CNAs & lab/med techs due to the General Boston Area being one of the top healthcare hubs in the US.

I find this more plausible than the Flip/ESL rrat.

At least Ina posts her weekly schedule pretty consistently. On the other hand, Gura sometimes streams out of nowhere and takes until mid-week to post hers.
Mito and Inui schedules are erratic as fuck.
And then there is Warabeda...

The weird thing about Gura rrats is that the more realistic possibilities are her practicing some spy movie intelligence operative level security like faking accents and IQ.
"idoru" is from the Japanese pronunciation, and for her it's a relatively recent thing (i.e after she finished learning English) so I suspect it's on purpose. If that's a legitimate mistake then she's Japanese, which would explain her flawless Jap pronunciation but I can't believe she would try to hide it if she were. Tenses can be attributed to young kids being dumb.

Whatever the case, language and accent are more a product of environment/upbringing rather than genetics, if she didn't know English initially it wouldn't be because of her ancestry but rather something like growing up outside of the USA.
