Imagine gatekeeping translation. Yes, there will be badly translated clips but as long as it is somewhat coherent and the viewers understands the gist of the clip it's okay. I even think that you can put your experience clipping VTubers in your resume if you wanted to be a legit translator. Rather than bullying people for their bad translation, give them a handbook or a guide or something like that. Sperging won't help.
Things like this is why I don't like Ichikara's plan to hire lots official clipper. Translators are fine, like Marine's, but using official clippers will kill any semblance of organic growth of clips and audience

Official translators =/= official clippers. Clips grow audience by being what the audience wants to see. Purposefully clipping from your talents' streams and laying them out would lead to a disconnect between the company and the audience, especially if the official clippers continuously clip things which the greater audience don't want to watch. It is true that official clippers would be side-by-side with fan clippers, though it may still leave a sour taste in the audience's mouth. In addition, if the official clippers and the company they work for use copyright measures (e.g. DMCA) then that will not

When Jin had his big Reddit 'call-out' post a couple months back, he directly named all the big translator channels, such as CMT, OtakMori, and Tengoku (some of which are directly respected and revered by the Holo girls themselves, which tells you how off-base Jin is). He also said that no one should give any them any views as it encourages their "bad" translations, and that he could "write a 10-page essay on all the translation errors in every single one of their videos," and of course him getting super-technical with interpreting Cover's "fan content rules," which was mega-autistic.

I used to do some fan translations of tv shows many years ago, when streaming services did not exist yet and tv stations in my country were slow with picking up popular shows and translating them. Yes, popular shows were plagued with subpar translations (sometimes overshadowing the top-notch ones), because many people were competing for clout and these poor quality subtitles were annoying as hell. But there is one significant difference between (good) tv shows and vtubers: the former have script, intended to form a coherent (and possibly nuanced) narrative, while the latter make shit up as they go, on average the stream is often chaotic and vtuber/streamer switches topics constantly, reacting to the situation. Vtuber streams usually aren't pre-scripted word-by-word works of art and as long as the subtitles are able to give you the gist of what's being said or translate the joke somewhat correctly, they are fine and the more the better.
