Coco confirm in her on going talk stream that there is a new rule(s) in Hololive about "No dark jokes" that she very much don't like, but have to accept it. Seems to have something to do with new Youtube rules that Hololive choose to avoid breaking instead of waiting around until another incident happen. She also mention Haachama. I think it's semi-confirm the 'new rule' Haachama mentioned in her announcement.

Edit. Someone made a TL.
The gist of it is that the new rule is made to protect the members as a whole from potential lawsuit and problem. Coco and the members understand and doesn't protest it, even if they don't like it. Shame.

I can understand why haato took a break, first getting fucked by youtube, then cover strangling her project for good.
don't get me wrong, I can understand cover is a business and dark stuff is more "serious" than lewd shitposting and other antics which you can always handwaive away with a laugh (as they say, it's all fun and games till someone loses an eye), but imho there could've been a better solution for that, even if it was an exception to at least let her finish it properly as a member only video. like first telling youtube stop being retarded (again) in that anime isn't real and if they wanted to go the extra mile pointing out it could be considered spreading awareness for mental health issues (but yeah, that would probably be a stretch for a japenese company), and then simply put a disclaimer in the description/video so even the last retard gets it's a performance of artistic expression, not a fucking snuff clip.
besides, what does cover think will happen, someone dragging them in front of a judge claiming haatchama killed their kid? are we really back in the fucking 80s with satanic verses in rock music?

right now it must suck hard, given by the amount and effort she put in (and the fun she seems to have doing it) she probably was invested quite a bit. just figuring out where to go from that point would be a struggle even in the best of cases (not to doompost, but that's the kind of shit that makes people quit and focus on something else simply to get the it off your mind, even more when it wasn't just some performance some gloomed about).
heck you could even rrat that her wanting to become EN was to get away from the retarded japanese management.

EDIT: also, if cover ever shitcans coco I'll become an anti, that insight and willingness to be open is worth it's weight in gold. just at looking at the money she brings in should speak for itself.

Hate to say it, but we are firmly in New Media Are Evil territory, and tbf Haachama is the very first of some popularity to go into 'dark themes', and nobody wants a 'suicide because a vtuber told me to' story happening.

I would honestly be very surprised if that ever happens. If anything we've seen Cover basically sacrifice the CN branch and the Bilibili market over firing Coco. Plus I'm pretty sure Cover knew what they were getting into when they were the ones to ask her if she wanted to be a member instead of whatever staff position she originally applied for (with her, at the time, in her own words, shitty Japanese).

Also I don't see why they would, she hasn't done anything wrong since the incident and even that's a stretch because her and Haachama didn't even do anything wrong in the first place. Well, besides showing analytics which Cover prohibits. I'm still of the opinion that Coco felt the coming shitstorm heading Haachama's way and showed her own analytics/said Taiwan as well to try and take the brunt of it. Especially considering how much she reveres Haachama. And it worked.

yeah, unlikely too happen, but then a vtuber graduating out of nowhere with their whole former persona yeeted isn't anything new, and with the whole "it can't be helped" attitude most of them probably won't kick up a fuss about wrongful termination if someone high enough suddenly decides to have a stick up it's ass.

the other thing is I still can't figure out how a policy like that is supposed to "protect" the talent. even if you have someone go off the deep end like @Pinot Pierrot mentioned, what's the policy supposed to do? "well, we told her not to do it, should be fine now, right?". the only one here is protecting cover itself putting the legal liability on someone else. any lawsuit flying their way already has them involved, since no one will sue "haato akai", but the company owning the image rights.
for the content it makes no difference, because there are only 2 types of it: either you have someone getting drunk enough to crack rape jokes or have gura say "neck yourself" in the heat of the moment live on stream, or you have premade content which you can easily review. for the former any policy makes not difference (and given that even with all the content produced and numbers of performers nothing like that has happens says enough about their talent being smart enough to know what to do on stream), the latter the only difference is "don't waste time on shit we won't greenlight ever".
all in all it doesn't take a policy for that, especially one that is already wishy-washy in it's definition and is most likely covered by an already broad af content policy.

plus there's still the content itself, "dark" or horror shit isn't anything special on youtube, less alone multiple personalities. might as well remove everything involving gollum because it's "misportrays mental illness" and "encourages suicide" or other nonsense. and haachama's stuff wasn't even painstakenly rendered in HD, just some drawings with voiceovers. and any judge will fuck you with contempt if you bring singing with different voices in front of him.

TLDR: cover pussied out.

you dont need anyone in those days, or people forgot how a couple joined the statistic following a stupid dare game called the blue whale a couple of years ago?

seem like reaching 100k subscriber and live near japan is a requirement to get a 3d model for now, so we can be sure among en ,mall goth gonna get it first
Looks like the requirements are

1) Living in japan (for now, is possible to do 3D in your house but is expensive)
2) Having more than 100k subs (this one has discussed but winning son confirmed it considering the other holostar with a 3D is Rikka and he has 100k)
3) Being a Holo for more than 6 months (this one was confirmed by 5th gen getting their 3D models 6-7 months after their debut)

EN doesnt qualify because they are spreaded everywhere (Canada, USA, Japan, Austria) even when they have the numbers, IF a EN gets it would be Calli and that day would be glorious because we know she is going to fumble it and is a step on her getting on Holofes

poppy predates haachama by a few years with creepy/disturbing shit, and is/was way bigger, since I only know about it because my normalfag mates couldn't shut up about it. there's probably a lot more I've never heard off.

it also doesn't take anything "dark" for someone to go off the rails. remember kpop fans happily adopted a moniker based on someone driving off a bridge with his pregnant girlfriend in the trunk. so what's cover gonna do when someone offs himself and his family because "SHE DIDN'T REPLY TO MY SUPERCHAT!!!!11!"? disable superchats? disband the company? you can't really protect yourself from bad PR.

I definitely understand where you're coming from. But I believe they're more so just trying to play by YouTube's rules and not poke the hornets' nest more so than trying to avoid any legal issues. It just sounds to me that they're trying to avoid another Capcom-like event from happening again down the line. Which considering there are still channels that have more privated videos than public ones to this day, I can understand them rather being safe than sorry.

And it's fairly similar to that situation too. Other people are able to stream games without permission and can barely have any problems until you're suddenly a blip on the wrong person's radar.

I do agree that "dark jokes" is incredibly vague, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Members break or bend rules all the time and Cover rarely (it's happened) ever has issues with it or actually enforces them, at most a manager will give them a stern talking to if they have an issue with it. I think the line in the sand that Cover's drawn is probably anything suicide-related.

And I kind of wished they'd spent more effort into ways of actually protecting the talents though so that Coco and Kanata don't need to have a baseball bat next to the door.

Edit: Also, if a former talent attempting suicide after being graduated barely gets any attention or legal issues I'd be surprised if anything else will.

Yogiri and Civia had 3D debut as graduation so chance are even the backstabbers had 3D as well but opt to not use it for graduation.
This means that 3D is done separate and pretty much on the marketing teams on when they want to green light it. Both Ame and Gura ex avatars were also home3D I believe.

Moona got a L2D update. She showed off after Minecraft stream. Nothing too big, just some minor tweaks like Kimono Flare got. Better face tracking and getting Watame face.

Fucking cocktease.

Wow I just realized the skirt part was actually the jacket portion as well. CoomersMembers can see her without jacket.

EDIT: Adding Kiriku clip.

2) Having more than 100k subs (this one has discussed but winning son confirmed it considering the other holostar with a 3D is Rikka and he has 100k)
Rikka got his 3D when he was at 30k subs. And he was the highest subs(after Kaoru left) before Winning Son took over.

Personally I think Cover withhold the boys from getting their 3D because they were focusing on the girls. Now that their girls are finished with their debut aside from Nene, with all the boys getting above 50k subs, they can push their debuts all in one go.

what i get the gist from him based on that tweet basically like Hololive Moment before they yeet out cause that bilibili stuff.
"without my translation, you cant enjoy okayu moment" while infact even if he gone, there always someone willing to take his seat. did he ever get notice by okayu herself? if not prolly just butthurt not get noticed by his oshi
He has been noticed by Okayu, yes. She's pinned his comments on her YT videos more than once. She is definitely aware of him. Probably just a matter of time until she follows Matsuri's lead and makes her top menhera a mod on her channel. Japanese girls are too trusting of "foreign" guys who know the language, it seems.

I had arguments with people whether or not YT or Cover was to blame for that. They'll take Coco's wording as that they were right and double-down on the autism. Someone earlier in the thread here linked that cringe "rap" song that one wackjob made that encouraged violence towards A-chan, among other things, for instance.

But it's not Cover's fault directly. YT had a policy change last month, and Cover hit the panic button and DFE'd, I guess. I told these spergs it wasn't on Cover, they're just nipping it in the bud before some soyboy claims he cut himself because Haachama told him too, that's literally it. YT "does not allow content that promotes self-harm, suicide, or content that is for the sole purpose of shock/disgust," or something to that effect. Read it here.

I'm just hoping Haato isn't discouraged and is just trying to find new ways to tell the story. She's a pretty smart cookie, very sharp, so I'm sure she'll be okay.
I was about to say, specifically in regards to OtakMori’s coverage of Aloe, or another video they did on Rushia, I believe, they were way off base.
I had actually forgotten about that one. OtakMori is a scumbag though, he's definitely just in it for the clicks and the attention. That dude made sure to post the clip of Aqua bawling her eyes out after losing the Mario Kart tourney almost immediately after it happened and.....that left a very sour taste in my mouth. He's a sensationalist and an opportunist.

Jin was right to call him out, but other people, like Tengoku, who the Holos love to talk with and be clipped by, does not belong on the same list. But Jin was just going in swinging wildly because he's mad he doesn't get as many views as any of them, that much is obvious.

EN doesnt qualify because they are spreaded everywhere
Yet they they also pull revenue in titanic numbers if you look at EN as a branch vs other branches. I'm not trying to push a numbers game, but when it comes to a 3d debut, I think Cover will find a way to have something come about when possible. We aren't going to be seeing the consistency of the JP branch (though it is possible in the future), but an EN 3d is guaranteed, mark my words. It is too lucrative to pass up:

Plane tickets? Cheapest they've ever been for the U.S. if you aren't picky or stupid.
Lodging? Tokyo lodging is expensive, sure. . . unless you buddy up. Disney off-collab ringing any bells? You think Guramina isn't going to room to have a fun trip overseas in six months to a year? They'd pay their own way without company backing I'd think. I would. Kiara is sleeping on/in Calli's floor/bed. Easily rectified there.
And what makes the whole thing come together? The fact that each fanbase would drown these girls in Red Superchats within the first four seconds of being in 3d.
And If Holo was smart, they'd make the most of the crunched-time-frame to make it a rapidfire back-to-back event that culminates in a 3d EN off collab. That is how you get a gachikoi to send his second or third Red.
the other thing is I still can't figure out how a policy like that is supposed to "protect" the talent.

you can't really protect yourself from bad PR.
I do agree that "dark jokes" is incredibly vague, but I wouldn't worry too much about i
First and foremost, let me get it out there that if anyone didn't know already (doubtfully), these recent Haato/Haachama streams were absolute gold to me; girl is an artist.

That said. . . I get the business decision. Liability is surely an issue in any decision process, but you also have to understand that brand image/cohesiveness is one of Hololive's strengths. They could have seen the H arc as being to out there and needed to be reigned in to protect the overarching 'image'/'story' of the brand. It isn't so much the corporate aspect, as much as a social aspect hindering the talent. I still think, given that, H could have still ended everything fine and dandy in a suitable way.

But there is a particular issue I should mention (and it pains me to see it): the streams/fan content had a western audience portion/lean. If this was just a JP oriented 'dark' storyline it might have slid by. But the fan content, a third of the interaction, etc. . . was geared toward an EN audience. And the EN audience, while also a great supporter of this content, also houses the worst antis to that content. I remember seeing in chat when the 'dark' karaoke was going on, chatter complained about her belittling or mocking depression. Obviously those self-righteous morons have no idea what the girl had been through, or even cared most likely, but they exist.

If, on the off chance Cover was thinking about that. Power to them; they are starting to learn how to manage.
Civia had 3D
There is a lot of controversy around her 'release' of that. Personally, I think it was more of a 'fuck it' overall, but the fact that it was made and ready to go says something. However, I think the discussion is more geared toward a real 3d. . .

Edit: @Takodachi. . . You ready brother? This has to be the one.

as much as I had companies overreaching and getting involved, demonetize that shit and the coomer baiters gonna fuck off when there's no money involved anymore (ofc some people will do it regardless, but it cuts down the number and possible yt algorithm shit).

ofc that's gonna hurt legit clippers as well, but those have less urge to bait since they do it out of fan passion, not to milk views.
If the doxfag discords are anything to go by, there's more than enough people willing to try much harder for clout alone. While it's certainly true that clipper bias can hurt a vtuber's reputation, I'd much rather they don't clamp down so there's as many clips as possible. A sudden surge in viewers often comes with ridiculous and annoying memes being spammed, but it's not too hard for a streamer to redeem their image (by doing literally anything else really). The clips also serve as an archive when something happens and just bring in more people in general which is always good.

Niji's approach where they upload and translate their own clips is overall a good thing, effectively guaranteeing a source of decent clips assuming the company does their job. It's better than imposing restrictions certainly because it promotes the talent rather than hurting their overall popularity.

Rikka got his 3D when he was at 30k subs. And he was the highest subs(after Kaoru left) before Winning Son took over.
Yes someone in discord mentioned it but the consensus was that cover did it so people stop thinking they dont give a shit about holostar

It was mentioned earlier about clips misrepresenting what people's personalities are like and how it messes with their image, or even just super sensationalizing something. I'm gonna say there's not a single thing wrong with that, and I think the only real problem from it is the fact that Cover hasn't poached/sponsored/endorsed a team of people that are good at it and tried to have a better grasp over the market.

Gura getting upset or weirded out that a bunch of turbo virgins and autists are taking clips of an anime avatar girl panting and making certain sounds makes her look pretty naive, especially when it's RFA, that's part of the reason people are watching. It is fine for her to be bothered by it, but you have to realize what you have sold your soul to. For the audience she is selling herself/being sold to, just knowing that she is a girl is already sexual to them.

On the same coin of the sexualizers you also have the people who will talk like a talent is god's gift to man and how their story of how they got to this point is so amazing and so remarkable and you remember 6 years ago under their other name when they did this thing, and it spoke to me about myself and what she was going through and she is so perfect and I can't believe people are rude or dislike when someone has done all this stuff, so here is this song/video about what they were going through and what it meant at the time and that's why they're now my spirit animal and I will never let anyone say negative things about them or correct them and tell them about all these things she had to do to get here and how she is so talented and.........

Both are fucking awful but are part of the job because that's the type of audience that gets attracted to this stuff. You can find both on youtube, you can find both in this thread. This is just the general audience.

Tldr; people selling themselves as products attract lunatics then act surprised

-Moona got a L2D update snip-
But like for real though Moona's got the hottest model out of everyone in Holo. I don't care if you disagree. Her boobs is accentuated, her shoulder and armpits are always seen, god knows she almost feel naked without her jacket. Like goddamn! Just cover her face with plastic or sth and ill breed her like no tomorrow.

Now because fubuki there is a rrat that EN has become the bridge between Guine pigs and mains their logic goes like that

ID/Holostar play game
Game pass the first test
EN play the game again
Pass the final test
then mains play it

Problem of that logic is that only Fubuki is playing Hollow Knight for now while the rest is on a terminal case of horse racing addiction and apex

Like goddamn! Just cover her face with plastic or sth and ill breed her like no tomorrow.
>not wanting to fuck Moona with her deadpan face staring at you the whole time
