So I was a little curious about Aqua recent apex stream. At first it appears to be the usual chink hijinks. Spam messages in Chinese and mass disliked the stream. However it would appears that it's the true and honest Taiwanese antis employing the playbook of their western brothers.
Someone managed to dig up the incident, dated up to January 27th, where Aqua had a argument with a toxic Taiwanese player in her team. The gist of it is that he made the call to go in while Aqua decided that they could not fight and pulled back, thus he died alone on the frontline. He then trash talked Aqua and this sparked a flame war mostly in Chinese, which made everyone else uncomfortable. Aqua herself either doesn't understand or doesn't care much about the match, since she didn't comment about it as far as I know.
Now I don't play apex so I don't know if it's Aqua fault for not covering her teammates or his for trying to pull a leeroy jenkins, it is what it is. And I being a retard didn't archive the facebook link before typing this post so it's gone. If you want a nice archive page of facebook saying the page had been deleted though, I've got you.
TLDR: Taiwan mad, to the surprise of no one acts exactly the same as west taiwan.

I get where they're coming from, suffering from all the hacked up english versions over the years and that the "original" version is usual best (else why have the scenes in the first place?). still, it's mostly violence as I remember so not much harm done. but still, just in principle, playing a censored version... but then hardly a reason to shit up chat.

There's no real equivalent to hosts and hostesses that isn't basically sex work (which to be frank is often the case for hostesses), but if you want to learn how to entertain people and manage guests, there are inumerable books and videos on the topic. If you want to watch people who are good with other people, that's kind of what celebrities are.

Someone like Conan O'brien would be a good example for kiara, the combination of "talk show" and "comedy" being what she's aiming for with holotalk. Talk show hosts are probably a good parallel since they have to manage a guest, make jokes, and keep up the conversation.

Agreed with everything above. It's maddening seeing people use shit other Holos do regularly to explain why Kiara is the shittiest self centered bitch ever, but never apply the same standards to others. Hell, let's just look at Ollie. I love the zombie, but I think we can all agree one of her biggest weakness is a COMPLETE lack of volume control. And yet, I didn't see multiple pages on end of her screeching over the Ame/Mel Apex collab.

Can we add the "non-stop, only here to bitch about Kiara posting" to the list of shit we're sick of seeing for pages on end? At least when Takodachi does it he then swaps to talking about how he wants to suck Ina's toes while she steps on him.

The problem I have with Kiara isn't the volume per se (if we're going with the Ollie comparison). Granted her 'Kiara' voice coupled with her mic sensitivity really gives me a headache so I can't watch her beyond short clips. I've never been able to full watch a holotalk video in one go.
The major issue is her just talking over people in collabs and just the fact that her volume levels are always a bit higher in collabs so she drowns people out(this could be unintentional but should be rectified)
And the other problem is the constant forced thirst on Calliope. I think many would agree with me on this. Homolive pairings aren't new but this takamori ship doesn't work and Kiara keeps forcing it. In the uno collab she keeps circling back to drinking Calli's milk to the point that it's disturbing. Any joke/gag is only funny if done once. Too many times and its cringe.
It's the same with announcing herself as mom after the Calli dad meme came about. The dad thing grew organically from the manga reading stream and built up with some subtle pushes. And on the other side, 'Calli is dad so I'm mom' feels forced and cringe.

I don't hate anyone in hololive. If they don't fit my taste I don't watch them. But the uno collab was something to look forward to and if the others had been streaming I would've been okay. The bird's antics made it too much of a chore to watch it.

Kiara's voice is okay, IMO. Or maybe I just say so because I have the same sort of accent, whatever. I don't even think it's that bad on collabs. Like, if, e.g., Ame is quiet in collabs then that isn't because Kiara is so loud, because Ame is the same in every collab, and it is often a bit awkward - while at least with Kiara, there is someone steering the direction of the conversation. I noticed that in the semi-anniversary. Kiara was the one who managed to get from point to point, and that in a fairly efficient manner.

What I dislike is mostly the personality she projects. It's probably part of her streamer persona, but that whole attitude of being demanding and entitled, not taking jokes, "asserting" herself - that has a lot of fans with deep pockets, but to me it's just cringe. Like, she doesn't even do it ironic or as part of a joke setup, so whether it's real or not, it just feels like it truly is just an unpleasant personality. Also, her running jokes into the ground, like that baby thing.

I don't know man, I still think that hate boner people have for the chicken is honestly more embarrassing than anything she could ever do imo.
Her boisterous and overly enthusiastic attitude it's kind of needed to balance out the other personalities of the English girls.
Ame- Gamer girl
Mori- supposed to be the cold rapper of the bunch.
Gura- the Moe mascot that does numbers
Ina- comes off as a quiet artist.
The chicken acts as a Midway point between the Japanese and English branches and the personality is what pulls the group together (The Takamori and Gura student stuff come to mind).
The absolute cringe I see of people getting upset over clearly scripted antics never ceases to amaze me.
