No idea how this doesn't exist yet. I was trying to find a thread for daily workout routines and/or efforts to get fit without much specification and the closest things I could find to that were the weight-loss support thread (which also covers things like dieting and weight measurement which wasn't what I was thinking of) and this dead thread from 2 years ago that seemed more preoccupied with advertising YouTube channels than it did actual discussion.

So, uh, post anything that doesn't fit into a different thread here I guess. Share workout routines/tips, general thoughts related to what you've done in regards to some kind of exercise, etc. Discussion of sporty activities that don't really have a professional field to sustain threads around (think roller skating, taking walks/jogs, etc) is also more than welcome.
Alternatively, you could just call everyone fat and brag about your muscles. That's cool too.

I'll share a little to get the thread going- I went to the gym for the first time a few days ago. I stuck out like a sore thumb and had to stop exercising half an hour in because I could barely breathe after lifting 10lbs worth of weight thirtyish times in a row but I don't care. After the soreness passed i've been feeling awesome lol. Looking forward to going back soon.

Let me know if I'm just blind and a thread like this already exists! I'll be more than happy to move or delete it.

For me, there’s a park that I walk to if there’s times where I choose to go to a gym on a different date. Outside, you could do exercises that form from pull-ups to sit-ups, while also even doing push-ups if possible.

Plus, it helps that you can do some jogging around the track as well. I see older people and kids with their bicycles do it as well from time to time, and they come out a lot usually earlier in the day.

I'm getting back into the groove of exercising daily again and this is a routine that I like if you don't want to join a gym. You don't need much; just a pull-up bar, some gymnast rings if you don't have anything to do rows on (I throw them over my pull-up bar, works great), and about 10 sq ft worth of space. Also somewhere to run but I just go outside.

I follow the PDF the first day for strength, then I follow this C25K infograph (that I stole from /fit/) the next day for cardio. Pretty simple stuff but have had good success with it in the past. Just alternate each day, rest 1 day a week if you need to.

I walk the dog for at least 2 miles a day and then once or twice a week I will add on something else. Today I kayaked for 3 miles. My Polar watch says 140% each day with 250% to 350% on the extra days. It's all about moving my kiwis!

Cross-quoting:
I like swimming, kayaking, and bicycling. Kayaking became boring here once I'd explored anything i could reasonably get to within range of the place. Bicycling sucks because it's too hilly. I mostly like water sports.
What do you think of swimming and listening to podcasts to keep from getting bored?

I've tried weightlifting in the past but I didn't like it, it was pure chore.
Hey it's like me and cardio.

5 km run each day
100 push ups
100 crunches

YOU GOTTA LIVE IT
Ah, the Saitama routine.

I spent a few years of my life trailrunning or treadmilling 10-15 miles a day. Then COVID lockdowns and life and I just stopped running altogether. I still did lap swimming and indoor rowing, but I had no motivation to run and I had some other things going on.

The other day, I was out walking on a trail and I was suddenly hit with the urge to start jogging it. Because I was out of shape for this application, made it a 1/3 mile. Went home and woke up the next day quads sore as fuck, but I went out and did it again 2/3 mile. Couldn't do it yesterday, this morning did just over a mile. I am hoping in about 3 weeks or so to hit 5km again and then start working on improving pace. Then I want to go back to trailrunning. I forgot how much I absolutely love trailrunning, even when I constantly trip and fall on my face, nothing beats the utter freedom and the satisfying some primal instinct as trailrunning.

I run 4 miles every day. And all but one day I lift. I tend to alternate between benchpress, squats and barbell rows on one day and then squats, deadlifts and overhead presses the next. I also do dumbbell curls, lunges and leg curls. Been at it for like 7 months now and I've made a lotta progress. When I started running, I could barely handle 2 miles. And my time was pretty abysmal. Now, I'm running 6-7 mph pretty comfortably.

That's how it was for me. Ran a lot back in college and fell out once I got a job and responsibilities and shit. I'd forgotten how much I love the way I feel after a good run. Nowadays, I live for that feeling.
