General GunTuber thread

I used to be more politically active working with local gun rights groups. The people became progressively harder to deal with, and being that politically engaged is psychologically and emotionally exhausting.

The same generational disconnects that exist in other areas exist in gun rights too. The older people on the boards at clubs, running events, or running organizations do not understand the younger generations and usually make no attempt to do so.

I'm more asking because I worked in a limited capacity with ASRPA and AZ CDL and noted one of the younger activists started being angry with everything despite his best efforts. Someone's probably sent you the article on them at some point and he was a big speaker during the 2019 March for Our Rights deal. The AZ community from what I've observed is full of old people with a "Fuck you, got mine" attitude that seems to be entirely and completely detrimental to the community at large. If you go through my post history Russ, you can see the picture I've been trying to paint for others here as it relates to firearms.

"Fuck you, got mine" is truly the essence of the boomer. Expecting different from them in any sphere is a mistaken

I did read your post history. Again this isn’t unique to Arizona. The same goes on in any other political activist community. Nationally The NRA is still blaming video games and music for mass killings. Alienating potential members as a result. They have done their best to keep the people in power there in power and keep new blood out.

It's done really bad shit to AZ.

That attitude, specifically blaming video games is why someone I know got red flagged.

AZCDL hosted Lt Col Grossman. He’s been anti video games since the 1990s. “Murder simulators”. I also firmly believe his training methodology for cops has contributed to the deaths of people like Daniel Shaver and Ryan Whittaker; Cops freaking the fuck out at the presence of a firearm or the possibility of one and not taking into account totality of circumstance or behavior of the person they’re drawing down on.

If the cops can legally kill you for merely having a gun, you effectively don’t have the RKBA.

Karl clearly reads this thread, basically confirmed after Russ showed up. You're never getting your toke break tested now, lol.
Probably so; but it was a small price for the insight into someone's character who I had been considering doing a fair amount of business with. I could have called him out on it with receipts far earlier elsewhere, but at the time I felt it would've been tactless, petty, and end up possibly distracting from the success of an otherwise cool concept (as the WWSD rifle had just launched).

It honestly just wasn't worth that much; though I hope he does follow through one day. Then I can update the few times I've mentioned it here with a good resolution, and feel somewhat less of a chump for throwing good gun parts away .

Probably so; but it was a small price for the insight into someone's character who I had been considering doing a fair amount of business with (along with his partners). I could have called him out on it (with receipts) far earlier, far more publicly; but I felt it would've been tactless, petty, and end up possibly distracting from the success of an otherwise cool concept (as the WWSD rifle had just launched), simply because Karl couldn't follow through for whatever reason.

Why don’t you just take his offer to return it or pay for it?

Because that wasn't the point? I didn't ask for anything in return for the video, not even a shout-out. It was a donation to the channel, which he agreed to accept prior to. Sending it back or buying it would've cost him money, which he constantly griped about. I was trying to do him a solid.

I can say that the only thing i don't like about the WWSD lower (SN in the 3000s - I bought in early) is the safety - that's a one and done install and you'll need to do some serious fuckery if you want to change it after the fact and the end result is still a bit mushy. That said, everything works as intended and my WWSD-lower AR is still my favorite "gotta go fast" rifle.

But it’s much later and you’re obviously unhappy with the situation. He offered to pay for it or ship it back because he works on his own schedule for getting stuff done; I don’t see how that’s unreasonable.

I will take this moment to point out that complete lowers ship with selectors with a ramp milled in so they can be removed half way between safe and fire. We sell these selectors on our site for $15.00 for milspec style.

I am told by the lawyers I cannot advise people how to modify their own selectors to work the same. But end users are doing this and some have posted guides.

Thanks for the heads-up. I likely won't change it, simply because even if it's a bit mushy, it still works 100% and that's all I care about. I did initially build my rifle with one of the Armaspec captive buffers but swapped out to the JPE H2 when you called them out for damaging the WWSD lowers - do you have any pictures of the Armaspec/flat wire spring damage to the integral buffer tube that made you call them out? I can totally imagine how they'd get chowdered up, but it would be interesting to see it.

No, I didn’t take any photos. The flat wire springs and the Armaspec basically shave the reinforcement ribs with each cycle. If Armaspec rounded the edges on their parts better it’d be fine.

Gotcha - I can see that. Anyway, if nothing else, kudos on some fine firearms products and keep posting those match videos - I like the self-analysis and deadpan delivery of your performance in them. :)

Also, is there going to be another Halloween shotgun match in your parts? That shit was hilarious last time.

Thanks!

Yes at Phoenix Rod and Gun club on Halloween.

I’m going as Adeptus Mechanicus with some Catachan Jungle fighters

Injection molded uppers in an AR15 present more problems than a lower. Notably heat transfer.
I actually completely forgot to account for that.
Also the way the lugs sit inside the lower it’s impossible to beef them up. If you use metal inserts in these designs it starts to defeat the purpose of doing plastic in the first place.
Hmm. I guess so.
Also plastic rail isn’t great for holding zero.
Generally not, but there's approaches which are doable, like with the G36 (admittedly rather different than the AR15).

I think it's very surreal how little attention and scrutiny Grossman has actually gotten, considering how long he's been doing his bullshitting. Gamers should be at his throat for being a retard, and the liberal left (at the very least) should be at his throat for propagating the idea that cops have to be so needlessly triggerhappy.
You'd think a guy like him would be the fucking devil to BLM types.
