THere are, unfortunately, only so many guns. Really the final frontier for Ian at this point is Russia since that's pretty much the one country he hasn't been able to really get into their museums but I highly doubt that he's gonna get the proper permissions due to world politics.
I think there's a lot more guns than some imagine (probably there's many things from the Civil War which he hasn't covered), but at the same time, I do think he would be wise to slow his pace somewhat.
Russia has fantastic treasure troves of historical prototypes in state and factory collections, and a lot of civilian and LEO market firearms which just don't get seen in the West, so if he could one day make some trips over there, I think that would be mountains of good content. Guys like Maxim Popienker could vouch for him.

Of course, this hinges on current political developments, so it could well be many more years until he gets the opportunity to do that.
He claimed to have a large backlog, but when he began digging out the shotgun videos I began to doubt that. He's in for a nasty surprise if he thinks he can keep up with his regular format of bitesize videos.
Some of it may be pre-emptive as well, throwing in filler as to slow down the expenditure of his backlog.

No one wants surplus rifles as a collector with African gobbledy gook markings.
Trench art is trench art to me, be it from Slobodan Slobodanovich carving in "REMOVE KEBAB" on the handguards of his Zastava AK, or Mbele von Umbubu carving in whatever tribal symbols or religious iconography in the stock of his Mauser rifle.
until you realize no one gives a fuck about Ethiopia and most likely you will receive a paper weight.
I must disagree here, because if you're collecting, you ought to collect because it's interesting to YOU, if it's not interesting to anyone else, that shouldn't matter. Ethiopia being a country with a long history of Christianity actually makes them interesting to me, and I wouldn't mind an unusual wallhanger or two, for an agreeable price.
Now, that Royal Tiger charges out the ass for guns with undisclosed sewer pipe bores, that's a separate issue.

A lot of the concern around the JFK assassination was that the rifles never worked and the ammo was crap.
That's a half-truth. The rifles actually work perfectly fine, and are basically comparable to Mosin Nagant rifles, crude and not very refined, but workable. P.O Ackley never blew one up, mind.
Issue is more that available ammunition in the US hasn't been consistent, and you could find multiple different surplus loads when buying a quantity of ammunition you'd expect to be just one kind.
Allegedly this is a problem which may go back to Italy, with different manufacturers loading their ammunition to their 'preferred' spec, and with this not being accounted for by Italian military logistics. This part is an unsourced anecdote which I don't know if it's true, so take it with a grain of salt.

Whether the ammunition differed and was mixed up during original production, or mixed up by careless American importers, along with known cases of US commercial ammo being loaded with incorrectly sized projectiles (which happened with both 6.5mm Carcano and 7.35mm Carcano), it would stand to reason that practical accuracy with ammunition like this would be bad in that circumstance.
Given, however, that some users have reported good accuracy with their own Carcano rifles, even back in the 1950s and 1960s, it would also stand to reason that consistent sources of appropriate ammunition has been available too.

Oswald was noted as a good marksman during his military service, and if he had a rifle and some consistent ammunition to practice with and to familiarize himself with the gun, there really would be nothing strange about him making the shots he did in the time he did. The state of the wounds and the recovered projectiles isn't even strange, given that old style of cylindrical round nosed bullets these cartridges used kind of did shit like that in the field.
The Carcano rifle and its ammunition is a big red herring for people who are looking at different angles for the JFK assassination, Oswald actually making those shots is pretty convincing in itself, rather it's worth questioning if he was who he and others claimed he was.

I think Othais and Ian both have denied rocking the boat or at least plead ignorance on helping the market "correct itself" when they present a five-page dissertation on how a particular firearm is not actually dangerous junk while firing it in the same breath.
I think in some ways this is good. I suspect that quite a lot of 'Chinese Mystery Pistols' were disregarded as the valueless junk it often is on the surface, and thus turned in to buybacks or otherwise destroyed, not just in the US but elsewhere as well.
Until very recently, there's been little documentation and literature at all about those guns, and I'd rather someone charge $500 on Gunbroker for a lopsided FN1900 clone which may have had some history in that era of China, than it being thrown into a smelter.

Fair enough - and better for it to be identified as it is supposed to - but the trouble comes when you have actual collectors finding out that Funny Ouiaboo Man on the internet has inspired others to elbow their way into your hobby and, as you introduce more people into a niche market, you must take everything that comes with them including them being absolutely retarded; see the RTI debacle for example, people rushing to spend money because it's a limited supply of old junk that's actually junk for real this time.

should i fab defense ak stock or just wait out for the bonesteel folding stock? i want something that folds to the right, i don't want a zhukov and while i haven't ruled out an AR buffer tube stock it's not my first choice

i'm leaning towards the fab defense since it's got that comfy looking rubber buttpad and that adjustable cheek rest to make the kobra sight line up real nice. the bonesteel would be more for style points than anything else.
Bone steel makes good product. It’s the only thing I’ve done to my AK.

He looks like a gay methhead, makes shit videos and is a total retard but F
CRS is the definition of low effort guntubers. His backdrop is a raggedy pawn shop that I can't imagine generates any revenue. The fanciest he got was pulling out a whiteboard and writing bullet points.

The autokeycard shit is so dumb. It's literally a drawing on a piece of metal.

I am of the opinion that CRS is at least partially responsible for Auto Key Card guy getting arrested because I remember him saying something along the lines of that one could in theory cut out a functional Lightning Link out of the Auto Keycard (but not to do that teehee) while also explaining how a Lighting Link functioned and maybe possibly pointing out that I think Bushmaster at one point produced modern production SP1 Cut Bolt Carriers (not entirely sure on this last one). The video he made when the AKC first came out got several hundred thousand views.

His videos are shit though and his voice is annoying in addition to looking like a gay methhead.

The Auto Key Card was stupid anyways since those drawings (and a lot more even naughtier drawings) all exist for free online and aren't even hard to find. Dimensioned, toleranced and everything.

If he did that it makes everything that's happened make way more sense.

My exact opinion of him. Not only did he repeatedly emphasize the "full auto" part of the keycard and then step back and say it's not illegal(which is correct, not that the feds would care), it seemed like he used the other guy for views when he got thrown in prison. Typical white trash tweaker behavior applied to messing with the feds.

Apparently they're both slapped with conspiracy charges in federal court so they're fucked.

Apparently he forgot to say "in minecraft".
If @AGPinochet described it correctly he was dancing all over the line of selling it as a full auto conversion kit. Which is expressly a no no.

Frankly it probably all hinges on proving that they were in a conspiracy, as opposed to somebody saying "here's how to do illegal stuff with a legal product".

If those cards are what they look like, which is good stock that can be cut out with a China freight scroll saw, hardeneable, and is the right thickness: 1) based; 2) he did everyone a huge favor by being cash only and destroying the records.

Alright so I have re-watched the video in question and this 130lb, 85IQ gay methhead retard does the following things

-At 3:00-3:03 he introduces the AKC as “The Lightning Link“
-At 3:19-3:20 he again refers to the AKC as “The Lightning Link“
-From 3:27 to 3:37 he encourages people to use “discreet ordering“ when purchasing the AKC and from 3:35-3:37 he once again refers to the AKC as “The Lightning Link“
-Beginning at 3:40 he utters the following words “Now the difference between these and the old lightning links that did cause problems, these are not cut out. The Old ones were 100% cut out, There was just a couple small pieces of metal (he says while the image on screen is of an object that is clearly a LL just barely attached to a piece of sheet metal) this is a metal holding them in the original piece, this is just a drawing on a piece of stainless steel. Just a drawing, nothing more.“ Ending at 4:10
-At 4:11-4:13 He utters the words “YOU have to manufacture it“
-At 4:15 he once a fucking gain refers to the AKC as “The Lightning Link“
-At 4:16 he starts talking about how “The Lightning Link“ (while holding an AKC) is designed for Colt SP-1 Style bolt carrier grops
-From 4:20-4:26 he describes how you can “drop em in your receiver and scratch your full auto itch (while holding an AKC) and throw em away when your done“
-From 4:27-4:36 he utters the words (coming off what was said in the above line “Noone is the wiser, you still have a transferable firearm and you didn't get your dog shot. Ah definitely don't go on the internet and upload videos of you using this (while prominently holding up the AKC)

Thus concludes the video's portion on the AKC

So uh, yeah. this fucking retard explicitly marketed it as an MG Conversion device

Oh wow. Yeah he pretty much glow posted him and his friend right into jail. I hope to God the guy making the cards didn't know he was saying this shit.

What's the actual extent of the ties between the guy that makes the card and the YouTube guy?

As far as my non lawyer knowledge goes, this kind of conspiracy is easy to prove because all they have to do is prove one person committed a crime and that others participated in acts related to it. Conviction rate in federal court is super high, so theres a good chance one or both plead out and sell the other down the river.

Its unclear. I watched a couple of his videos when the other guy got thrown in jail where he presented himself separate from the guy and his family, but he also seemed to know a lot of personal stuff about the situation. Another uncertainty is if methhead/CRS sold the keycards himself at his pawnshop/gun store or if he just pointed people to buy from the creator. You could probably dig through the videos and find better details, if anyone wants to subject themself to his rambling.

They over charge on gun stuff most often because a lot of people don't have money to fight it and a lot of it has shocking little case law. YouTube guy is probably not somebody that will get picked up by the likes of the GOA because he seems pretty slimey.

I'm not going to phone post a law school class from the bar, but if they cooperate on defense the feds will essentially have to show that the YouTube guy and the card guy were either general partners or expressly cooperated to sell the cards as a machine gun kit.

If there's no documentary evidence to the contrary and card guy says "card is merely a novelty, bro, YouTube man is just my friend and a retard. I didn't tell him to say that and he doesn't get money from sales. I wish he would stap". And the YouTube meth man says "no financial relation, I am a lone wolf sperg who just opined on how cool lightening links are - muh first amendment" that's probably enough to get them both off

I feel like the solvent trap market is gonna start having more and more issues like this soon.

I'm pretty involved in the F1 community and talk to a few manufacturers. Just yesterday one of them was posting pictures of their newly aquired $75k-$100k millturn. It takes some massive balls to put that kind of money into making "sauce cups", flashlight extensios, etc. with how the ATF has been acting this last year.

As someone who machines; its hard to fight the urge knowing that you can get a $20,000 refurbished mill and start brining in six figures very quickly. But then I remember places like Totality Industries and Diversified Machine....

EDIT:
Today they just announced they are stopping completely. Less than 48 hours ago they were posting about their new machine and how it would increase production.
