We're so desensitized to depictions and descriptions of terrible shit that first world problems dictate the flavor of fighter to be the problem.

I'd read battlefield commentary from anyone; perspective of a current-day fighting force, militia or otherwise, in a hellish slapfight with Russia is interesting as hell. But we're robbed of it because of these retards.

Desensitized to the descriptions of it, primarily, but so far removed from actual duress and suffering that violence in one's vicinity seems almost otherworldly indeed. When you see videos of people getting killed - beaten to death, stabbed, or shot - there's a shocking amount of disbelief from bystanders a good portion of the time.
 
Name dropping the Azov Battalion screwed him. I wish he had played his cards closer to the chest on this one. A real shame too, he looked really broken up about not being able to do it.

All Ian had to do is say that the first hand experience of two first world countries engaging in warfare is way more important than what the authors views on Jews and coons may be. I mean shit, where his fanbase expecting liberals to be down to go fight in a bloody civil war?

What I don't understand is the logic that Nazis are so bad that you can't talk about them. If they're terrible, won't their actions prove it? It's irritating (on purpose).

You can speak about them at length. Academics (laugh against them if you want, but some are okay) like Goodrick-Clarke got out a tons of book dealing with Nazis and neo-Nazis. We have masterful works on how they think and what they want: as a object of study. Letting them have a platform is a non-starting point for a very vocal part of the audience. Call it cucking: it is how it is.

There's also ton of memoirs of weirdo types put out by far-right publishing companies: it's an interesting cottage industry, It's not like what Ian tried to publish does not exist: it merely lacks a platform like Forgotten Weapons to sell thousands of copies.

He got burned and he crawled back to "we'll only do gun books now, please forget it, please". Hope it will work, because he managed in a single masterful stroke to create drama for both sides of the tard coin at once. Again, he should have known better.
 
It's a shame, I went to the fundraising site last night intending to buy a copy and saw it had been pulled.

Unfortunately Ian seems to still not understand that the tiny segment of his fanbase that is made up of terminally online, twitter-crazed sex perverts are in no ways representative of either the wider shooting community or the sorts of people who are buying 50 dollar coffee table books about old guns and military history.

The fundraising sites have tons of those people, though, which I'm sure figured substantially into his decision.

Even if you don't cuck, websites and payment processors and banks may well cuck on your behalf after you've already invested substantial time and money.

Ian by his own admission doesn't have time to be on the internet any longer than strictly necessary to manage comments and reply to messages. So all he saw was one day his viewership was completely on board with whatever he did... then suddenly everybody dogpiled on him. No wonder he was spooked.

I'm convinced he genuinely was ignorant of much of this Azov stuff and just plain took Carolus at his word. He really isn't skeptical enough when it comes to dealing with people in general, be it "it's just politically slanted press" or the expectation that there wouldn't be people who would lose their fucking minds about it and not be able to examine war accounts from people they don't like.

If the project had been approached differently, maybe it wouldn't have turned out like this.

I think it'll depend on how he'll handle it in the future. If he leaves this behind and never acknowledges it again, the commie trannoid caterwauling will die down.
Showing weakness to these kinds of people is bad, but it only truly unravels if you allow it to escalate, giving in and apologizing for increasingly inane things. It's a cascade thing, IMO.
 
Ian should have just pushed out the book. I was actually hoping to buy it. Someone quote me if it ends up somewhere else please. I would love to read from the Azov Batt perspective myself.

I think he got spooked by the angry mob going after the ordering website and getting the project unilaterally pulled. Who's to say they wouldn't go after his Patreon (read: 90% of his income) for "neonazi propaganda" if he kept pushing?

Unfortunately the fundraising was to cover professional translation from Swedish, and editing. It's a damn shame that a useful primary source on a grossly under-reported war is getting squished because dangerhaired tacti-trannys had a fit of the vapours about someone who's ideology they don't like publishing a memoir.
