ETA: for the record, .277 Fury has a muzzle energy only about 10% higher than bog-standard 7.62mm NATO. I imagine recoil might be slightly harsher due to the higher velocity but I question whether anyone would pass the Pepsi test between .227 Fury and 7.62mm NATO on recoil impulse alone.

It's out of a 13" barrel compared to 20/22 inch 7.62 barrels. Even with the same muzzle energy the impulse delivery will be worse for the .227, but it has even more energy and a shorter impulse so it will be doubly worse. A 20" M16 will shoot softer than a 10" gun and the 10" gun certainly has less muzzle energy, so it's more about the final impulse rather than raw energy for semi automatics.

That's the big thing, not even the army is going to be using the full pressure ammo for most of its purposes. And anyone who thinks that just because .277 Fury is a thing all the mass shooters are going to start using it... well...

Have these people ever heard of the M14? Military rifle. We still have the damn thing in service. 7.62mm NATO is a caliber that's already in service, and it's still damn powerful for what it does. It'll definitely do awful, awful things to fleshy things it hits, even through multiple cinderblocks. Same with .30.06 Springfield if you're feeling particularly patriotic. Yet you don't see a lot of people going around slinging those rounds in mass shootings. Wonder why? Maybe it's because most mass shootings are carried out using smaller weapons, and trying to sling around a full-sized, full-recoil battle rifle in a tight mass shooting environment is not going to do you any good?

Who knows. All I know is, Beau is obviously ignoring that most mass shootings in the US still happen with the good ol' 9mm out of pistols, between gangs of young men shooting the hell out of one another in the inner cities. Somehow that never really affected the 2A discourse. Wonder why.
 
The average mentally ill twink dipshit who goes and shoots up his school typically don't know much about guns, but more importantly is fucking noodle armed. I don't see a guy like Lanza, Roof, or Tranny Phantom even getting a PTR91 inside without getting winded. I can't imagine any of them being able to cope with the weight of a loaded XM5 if they had one.
 
Even forgetting about anything else, military small arms are regulated under international treaty to have pretty tame wound profiles.

He's making this huge hullaballoo about muh military boolets like it means anything, but it's not like civilians will be wearing body armor. It'd probably be deadlier to shoot them with one of those modern hollow point 9mms than some gubmint ball or penetrator, because the wound profile is way nastier.

@SinistralRifleman, you tried your best there but that ratio of trannies to cute girls is getting pretty skewed towards the ladydick, my man. Hard to give Karl the benefit of the doubt like that. Sure, Avril doesn't look half bad for her age (she's actually only 37, I thought she'd be at least 40), but even that has its limits.

It's easy to jew around the Hague convention because it only states the bullet cannot be designed for expansion or flattening easily. If the rumors are correct and the ammo is going to have the three-piece construction of the EPR it should have pretty nasty wound profiles. The 7.62 NATO M80A1 bullet loaded into .300 BLK shows fragmentation as low at 1700 fps.
Nobody's going to sell it commercially, so it's gonna be 2-3 dollar per round on gunbroker. Doesn't really matter how well it performs if the average mass shooter is gonna have to buy the rounds one box at a time, and they're probably the weaker training version anyway.

Who bought an AR because of its "merit?" whatever the fuck that means. People buy them because they're customizable, reliable, and dirt fucking cheap., just like they used to buy Russian surplus guns in the good old days.

I'm also surprised nobody is reminding him that he can't buy an AR because he's a felony human trafficker.
