I wonder, did the projectile fail and explode in his face or did the blowback into the dummy-head mash him with shrapnel.
Also genuinely wish they'd upload the highspeed footage, not for funnies but because that is probably the only video like that out there and I'm extremely curious since he's okay and will recover. If they charged 2 whole dollars for it, I'd pay

It's frustrating they never really state what they believe went wrong.

I do hope that if he fully recovers they decide to release the footage. There is a certain irony that a channel that specializes in showing human body parts getting eviscerated at high speed gets actual footage of this event occuring and then doesn't release the footage.

From the guy's description and how the blurred explosion went, I would wager something bled through the kicker charge and exploded the rocket motor in the tube. That tube is rated to contain the booster charge that kicks the rocket out, but the rocket itself going kaboom would definitely fuck you and anyone near you up. Even disregarding the shrapnel from the tube itself, those metal fins would be positioned perfectly to hit the operator right in the face.

I bet they're real glad they had inert warheads, though. Imagine being in a warzone, having the tube blow up literally on your face, then the warhead plops down to the ground trigger first and you get an extra boom for your trouble.

Don't RPG warheads have a distance arming lockout? Not exactly sure how that works though.

shitty rewelded RPG with questionable propellant explodes and everyone is shocked? pause when he fires earlier, it blows out around the trigger pack. You are not supposed to be having exhaust hit your fingers. When these are demilled they cut a hole in the tube, usually under the trigger pack or under something else so the hole is not visible for display. you can make a new launcher from these parts kits BUT YOU SHOULD ONLY USE A NEWLY MANUFACTURED TUBE, adding all other parts of the launcher to your new tube and discarding the old one. you have no way of knowing if bubba's weld will hold, you also cannot tell if the original tube has stress cracks or was stored poorly over the last ~50 years it sat in a soviet warehouse in some rural Ex-USSR hellhole.

Some of the people reactivating these also use duplex powder loadings. usually mixing powder meant for .50BMG with blackpowder. this can also be dangerous. I'd use straight 1/2FG or 1FG black for this if i was inclined. 3FG or god forbid 4FG could be incredibly dangerous on such a large scale.
