This is mind-numbingly retarded. Let’s give all our military hardware to Finland so they can wage war with Russia and we are left defenseless LOL. There’s more than one fucking “enemy” to the world besides Russia. The Finnish can make their own shit or wait for our hand-me-downs.

Ian's said some dumb shit about Ukraine leading up to this point--basically vomiting up a full-throated Kinzinger line, without any meaningful analysis--but this post, which he felt the need to put on his feed, is approaching Kasarda levels of idiocy. I used to think it was all signaling because he was desperate to atone to his failed Azov book, but I'm starting to wonder if he maybe is just a retard.

The guy is good friends with Finnish people, Finland just joined NATO with overwhelming popular support as a result of Russia deciding they want to play games with other people's territory (and now they're dealing with Russia's FSB hauling in "refugees" to their border). I think I can tell where he's got those opinions. Regardless...

Defenseless against who, though? We're not going to start rolling M1A2s down to Mexico to fight the cartels or block illegals. Canada doesn't have secret moose cavalry divisions threatening our borders either. Our army exists to fight shit overseas, not to stay home gathering sand in a desert parking lot. If we were only interested in our own defense we wouldn't have the largest military budget than the next 11 largest military budgets combined.

Sure, there's always China. They're the guys we'll be having a naval slapfight with, without any tanks because the Marines decided to drop armored units in favor of being more navy-based again. Nothing about the idiocy going on in Europe (or the Middle East, for that matter) reduces our capabilities anywhere that matters.

The shit we send our allies is our hand-me-downs. Always has been. It's money already spent that then got parked somewhere waiting to be used.

Ukraine got the Desert Storm-era Bradleys and mothballed HIMARS, Humvees and MRAPs, Poland is getting (read: paying for) Abrams chassis that were built in the 80s and 90s that spent decades sitting in mothballs and then got briefly modernized. The only "new" shit we're sending anyone is munitions and thank God for that because we let our munitions production atrophy to downright catastrophic levels after GWOT and this is the kick in the pants we needed to remember that yes, shell factories are important. Everything new, including F-35s, only gets sent when 1 - the recipient is paying for it, and 2 - we already have the ones we want.

I don't even care much about this war. Hell, I make fun of LazerPig and the guy is as pro-Hohol as they come. I just want Russia to get its teeth kicked in because they fucking deserve it. But most claims about our military aid programs (be it to Ukraine or anyone else) are extremely easy to verify with just a bit of research. It's all publicly documented.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that because the whole Russian SMO thing has a habit of derailing threads. Also, I'll take my puzzle pieces and trash cans by mail.

Ah, you are. Partially.

Popenker decided to upload a partial version of his AK book (cut images, some juicy details and a lot of the work on the experimentals) but it's still a worthy read at 125 pages. Pity there's no data on non-Soviet variants, but I'll consider it a good appetizer for the full book that hopefully will come out when the insanity goes down. He admit he would never get it published in english anyway in Current Year.

He used the Sureshot site as a platform, check the news and find the link. Popenker may have terrible english, but he's a good man and does not try to get me to buy 50 bucks mugs for scams.


Also, we should keep hohol/russian autism out of this, because it breeds idiocy. I'll simply point out that Varusteleka are borderline scammers having admittedly some good stuff at inflated prices and selling crap at inflated prices because the milsurp market has become insane in Europe. Plus they're Finns, that makes them unbearable by default (I'll never get American fascination with Finns, they're depressed assholes most of the time, must be because they're exotic).

I won't fault Ian much at this point: it's rather clear that some part of his business is working on fumes and between the scams, the endless shilling and the low quality/bait videos (his recent work on the Makarov to prop another one of the mug scams was so haphazard and even flat-out wrong to be embarassing) I am, god forbid, starting to re-evaluate Kasarda. At least Karl choose to die on the tranny hill and did no compromises, Ian is selling out like the cheapest whore.

That is quite scummy but how is that different from every single other surplus vendor out there? Just because they got big enough that they have their own gucci'd up rebadged cheap crap, or is there anything more specific going on?

I admit I haven't bought surplus in a hot minute, but I don't think I've ever seen "honest" surplus stores. Once they grow any larger than Bubba's Pile Of Stuff That Fell Off The Back Of A Truck I Swear That's What Happened (or Kimi's Pile Of Five-Fingered Russian Surplus, in this case), they all start jacking up prices to match the other gougers in the market.

Finns are Russian escapees with good PR. We love a good underdog story, and the Winter War (and its sequel Winter War 2: Continuation Boogaloo) firmly cemented them in global folklore as "plucky" and damn those pandemic-level depression rates. That's really all it is. Having worked with these guys, they can be fun when they're drunk but most of the time they're literalist assholes who hold way too many grudges.

I have a feeling the Chink Flu took a lot more wind out of his sails than anyone would expect, him included. I know that Othais had a lot of shit planed for 2020 and took inhuman effort to re plan just a few of those things for 2023. And in some recent video Ian did mention that he would like to take a look at some x gun in Europe if he could go there. It's quite telling that besides the macaroni videos what he is putting out is stuff that he has filmed and saved for some time and the macaroni and other hap hazard guns from his collection are there to bide time until he can get more stuff.
Though he has appeared in person with Jonathan from Royal Armories so one can assume he got access to that again. Also everyone has kept calling the giveaways a scam but I sincerely doubt someone with his level of notoriety would run something soo blatant since it's just begging for trouble.

The fascination from Americans before the Ukraine War came from the image of Finland itself. How beautiful the lakes and forests are, the cleanliness of the country, its top education system, its universal healthcare and its welfare state. A principal modern European nation. Finland also had this strangeness to it. Finns spoke a barely pronounceable language, and had a Nordic quaintness to their way of life. This would help with the allure. Now with the Ukraine War and NATO membership, that's all still there but Finland's history of fighting the USSR is put much further into emphasis. Before, you wouldn't mention it, because pointing it out would inevitably point out that Finland was an Axis member and thus fought with the evil Nazis! which was just asking for trouble with Americans. Now it boosts Finland's image to its allies.

Also I wonder if Ian is ever gonna do proper gun engineering/smithing lectures. His educational videos on the principles and mechanisms behind firearms are some of my favorites.
