He was the voice only because there's wasn't the internet for most people back then. When the mid 90ies and the internet came around those "people," went on a fudd purge. As you're and others here are repeating fudd propaganda of there's only fudd Americans. Who just so happened to despise the 2nd Amendment (for the lesser people) as much as the gun banners.
Then let me rephrase slightly in saying saying that Bill Ruger was the voice of the American mainstream at the time. And yes, many non bughive Americans did believe that sort of thing, it wasn't really until the passing of the AWB that people realized just how much the government was willing to take.

@Fatsuit Shinji you're right that I slightly misquoted Bill, but otherwise just wrong. You should try reading primary sources and talking to an old person some time. My grand dad was born in 1930 and he was a major fud. Probably 80% of gun owners his age were also major fuds. He owned one handgun and he inherited it from his older brother, who was one of the maybe 5% of people who actually did CC in the 1930s and 40s.

The middle of the 20th century was a nadir in handgun ownership and a low point in second amendment stuff in general. People lived in a high trust society and outside certain places where the culture had always been to carry weapons it became gauche to carry a gun and then prohibited. Then when all the craziness of the 60's and 70's race stuff happened and the crime rate fucking exploded. The initial reaction in most places was to make laws tighter with an eye towards selective enforcement, that quickly became universal enforcement. Then people realized that the cops weren't keeping them safe, but they would get in trouble if they had an illegal gun so things started to turn around in the 80's and 90's. Prior to the militia movement in the late 70's or early 80's there essentially wasn't even an idea of "rigth wing" political violence and the very thought of "I need the 2a to fight the government" was largely considered for Communist and insane people. One of the few favors boomers actually did us is that they were way more interested in pistols than the generation before them, beucause they all came up obsessed with westerns.

In other news demoranch has just put out his final goodbye video and I can't lie it was solid fun with explosives and other people he's worked with for years coming around for his send off was touching along with his last sign off at 27 minutes
While his videos did always lean towards the more "slop" side of guntube, I can't deny it's a little sad to see him go. He was the name in the scene for years.

The guy was basically THE GunTuber, he's like one of the first people you think of when it comes up in conversation. He's definitely inspired a bunch of other youtube channels and I would wager he's one of the biggest reasons why many people have gotten interested in firearms outside of video games.
The American dream is going outside and shooting trash with your buddies. Channels like him are probably the face of GunTube to the wider world and are most appealing to people who've never seen a gun before. He's certainly not some nobody, and assuming an adequate "replacement" for him doesn't manifest, I do think there will be some long-term impact from his departure unfortunately.

I think the entire guntuber format is slop formatted more akin to history channel Lee Ermey documentaries than anything resembling informative or educational content and demo ranch was no different. His stuff had a high production value and asked interesting questions sometimes but really didn't actually try and be anything more than lifestyle marketing swill like everyone else on the internet.

Like fpsrussia, nobody will remember this guy in a few years.

My dad watches everything these guys make, and he can't bring himself to watch this one yet. It's a shame to see him go.

You are correct but the one nice thing about Matt from Demoranch is that he at least seemed to be a fairly genuine and enthusiastic guy. Sure he was a goober but he always struck me a decent fella.

Demo ranch was great because it was child friendly. I'm a firm believer that some of the biggest gains in 2A stuff came from shit like the History Channel and video games getting a bunch of millennials and zoomers really into military style firearms at a young age.

They grew up to buy AR15s on their 18th bday and are disappointed they can't buy full auto stuff.

Lmao I actually didn't know that, but he's been publicly transphobic on twitter multiple times and it's always funny.
The way right-wing social media works is that you kiss the ass of a based tranny and/or based black guy, and that gives you a bigotry pass (within reason) and a gravy train of monetization. But if you just start using the nigger word unprovoked, that relegates you to a niche containment space.

Sounds about right.

It's okay to be edgy but you wouldn't dare be part of the "alt-right".

I didn't know that about Brandon.
There's a video that Synthetic man talking about "boogaloo guys" and there's a screenshot of him commenting on Blaire White. I have to get it.

It's sad, isn't it?

Here's the video - I swear I saw one version with the screenshot of brandon talking to Blaire White, however:

There's something special and uniquely sad about boomer grief.
I felt the same about my dad. He didn't really care for Demo Ranch, said it was too flashy and Matt was too cartoonish or over-the-top or something.
But when Paul Harrel died he looked genuinely sad, even bought some poptarts to eat in remembrance, and I've never ONCE seen him eat a poptart through my entire life.
