Flandre, who /k/ users may recognize, got one of the FEG rifles. He posted a one hour video about the rifle itself and says he will make another video to address the Copper Custom drama.

QRD: HD-18s seem to be sanitized russian SVD's, overstamped and removed proof marks in all the same places as a russian gun, russian assembly numbers, the scopes come with russian batteries, all the dimensions and machining is the same, the guns are the modern russian model not the mid 1990's SVDs that are here in the US and certainly not the soviet era the FEG claims the parts were from.

China did the same shit with the NDM-86, nobody cared then either. ATF has to prove those rifles were in Russia within 5 years prior to importation for it to matter anyway.
 
here is what i think happened:
  1. they actually had parts for 100 rifles left from the soviet days.
  2. the ATF says no Russian parts so they have to make all the parts now
  3. we know these are 100% new production, as confirmed from FEG
  4. they quickly realize this will be a impossible task for their operation
  5. they come to the conclusion that the easiest thing to do would be to buy commercial Russian SVD sporting rifles and sanitize them to get them in the USA.
  6. according to trident/FEG they are already working on another shipment though if this is investigated i doubt it happens.

Irrelevant because the ATF doesn't care (remember all those "Bulgarians" with Izhmash stamps that have been getting imported for years?) and the cop callers on AKFiles can seethe till they're blue in the face. MAC's a faggot but what can AKFiles do, prevent them from importing more guns? FEG already stated they won't do any more. This is a bunch of bluster from an eternally buttblasted boomer board.

Its interesting in the same way that KUSA is totally not afilliated with K concern despite having the TDP's and close to ties to russian industrialists and money routed from russia through israel. Im all for people bending/breaking the rules. I was considering getting a AK-15 parts kit from the Rusweapons.com guy but unfortunately the FSB arrested him.

Literally just the typical mods acting like tyrants over a niche hobby forum. FAL Files are a little better I've heard, owned by the same people though.

It was super boomer-y in my experience, which imo can be either somewhat charming or incredibly obnoxious depending on my mood. Supposedly the marketplace there is one of the best sources for AKs and AK accessories but I’m not super into the AK platform so I’ve never really used it myself.

KUSA? Yea, they make top notch shit and probably really are a KC front. PSA? You're fucking joking. I've been hearing PSA is the future of the AK market since their dogshit gen 1 came out. More and more people catch on all the time to how shit their products actually are. It's actually pretty funny watching some of the witch hunts that have occurred on AK Files from people who've never shot an AK before their 76th gen PSA trying to call others who actually know shit about fuck, that they're anti American for not liking a company that puts Chinese cheapness to shame. You see the same shit with Olight, "Oh, they're not really Chinese and they're such great lights, you're just an ignorant hater!!!!1111".
