Genshin Impact Fandom - Chinese game racist #BoycottGenshin *spends $100* *spends $100* *spends $100*

Imagine the WoT community but with more sunk-cost fallacy involved. /r/WarThunder and /wtg/ are filled with "Gaijin pls", people claiming they'll come back after they uninstall or posting the number of SL left on their account. EDIT: I found something even more stupid. Behold, the Chally incident

However, in a span of even 1 year, GI managed to foster a shittier community (and game) than the two combined.
Okay you convinced me. Committing international espionage to get an advantage on a tank game is lolcow territory.

All i am gonna say that i observed that Genshin fandom is on the same level of autism with Nintendo's Super Smash Brother fandom and congrats OP for making a great thread on Genshin Fandom.
Here's the archive version of the links put by op and other participants ( I decided to archive them, bc these people may delete them:
Around April 6th, 2021, Genshin fans got antsy. They wanted new content, and they wanted it NOW. What better way to get a chinese company to listen to your pleas for more pixel to consoom than to list out all sorts of "problematic" aspects of a gacha game and get a hashtag trending? #BoycottGenshin came about because a few fans were upset that Inazuma, a new region in the game, wasn't coming out fast enough for them. Being the terminally online spuds they are, they had already completed everything released of the game and wanted more NOW NOW NOW. As comes with being terminally online, these people listed out all the things they didn't like about the game on twitter, getting the hashtag #BoycottGenshin rolling. Of course, don't think about the fact that these people had sunk countless hours and dollars into the game without being bothered by said problematic aspects in the past. What better way to get a Chinese company to comply with your demands than to spam the fuck out of them on their tweets?

Aside from spamming the twitter of a game that literally doesn't care and is rolling in money, they tweeted out all of the supposed flaws of their favorite money drain.

Racism
The supposed racism they were upset about comes from the Genshin Impact devs basing the mob idle animation on indigenous dance videos, not making Xinyan or Kaeya black enough, and describing the two as "scary/fierce" and "exotic" respectively. Nevermind the fact that Xinyan is described as scary because she's literally a punk and Kaeya is described as exotic because he's just not native to the region the story takes place in.

Behold, I have brought some salt to go with our popcorn!

But then again, it's mostly Twitter screenshots.

Hero Hei has quite a few videos about the cancer fandom.
Know for a fact that they have, they’ve sperged hard over the “female sexualization” in the game, complaining about fanservice tits and ass and basically everything to do with the female character design. I’ll hunt for some screenshots about it, there was a pretty big uptick in it when Rosaria got released in April, because some people were complaining about how her tits got nerfed, and on the other had you had the people complaining endlessly about her design in general.
Rosaria's powers and rosaria's character design looks almost identical with Mitsuru Kirijo from Persona 3 series.

Promising thread. It’s amazing to watch the unstoppable force of Western Twitter meet the immovable object of superior Han slot machine developers.
The Han truly are the master race, look how they how they freak out over a children's phone game:

How can gweilo even compete?

I'd probably still be playing this game if some of the content didn't require me to group up with others (and not even conveniently by pressing a button, by like socialising!) and if it wasn't for the fact that the game cycles through temporary content so often that I just got tired of trying to keep up with it. Yeah the gatcha mechanics are shit, but you can (very slowly) earn in game currency, so it's only really people with a lack of self control that get caught up in it (which makes it strange that I didn't).

I still find it funny how some of the dumb shit Twitter reacts to in genshin like comparing a cursed savage FICTIONAL race to native people which that sure doesn’t sound racist at all.

There was also dumb shit like how some tards acted like one of the characters (the one with the guitar I think) isn’t black because they aren’t darker.

I actively play Genshin and love laughing at its shitty fandom, but especially at leakers. They and the people who argue over which unreleased waifu makes them cream themselves harder are incredibly entertaining.

A lot of the stuff involving leakers has been pretty entertaining for this. There are a lot of people who just guess release schedules and call it a leak on twitter, people who will drip feed upcoming characters and content and then get mad at others who go all out, and the official twitter basically telling the tranny leakers to eat shit by just unveiling everything that leakers had started to tease people with.
I can talk about this incident a little more in-depth actually!

What happened was that Mihoyo accidentally released the beta client for a then-upcoming patch to the public, so people who weren't actually part of the beta test and thus not bound under NDA had a field day and posted its contents within hours. This was in sharp contrast to the usual routine of a select few people either stealing questionable "leaks" posted by Chinese players on Weibo and Bilibili (because as usual the Chinese don't care about NDA) or having shady insider access to beta clients without being officially part of it (again, usually through Chinese players who don't care about NDA) and then drip feeding it to the public and cockteasing waifu coomers on twitter.

Mihoyo tried to do damage control and made a public statement on twitter about how leaking content was "unfair" and frowned upon, which they were mocked for. These days they've decided the best way to combat leaks is to beat them at their own game... by leaking their own content themselves before anyone else can.

The amount of rage from these people no longer having exclusive knowledge of which waifus were coming out in the future was phenomenal. I'll try and unearth some of it later.

it doesn't even end there either. i've seen someone actually try and argue that nothing about her design is sexualized. i love rosaria but like. come the fuck on dude, that's some industrial grade copium.

I see they brought their “I want to like anime but I hate everything about anime archetypes and art style” attitude over from Tumblr as well.

Twitter/Tumblr is just a cesspool of egomaniacs, people with mental illness, social justice jerimiahs and people that haven't even existed for as long as the Xbox 360. This unholy quaternity invariably corrupts every thing that gains even an iota of mainstream popularity. Plus its a free to play anime mobile game its like a bat signal but for the socially stunted.

It's less a mobile game and more a multiplatform game with a mobile version. Having a mobile version at all definitely adds to the retardation for sure, but I'm unsure if it'd be completely gone without a mobile version existing.

I mean they are mobile developers first and foremost if you look at their previous games but I'm more so talking about the type of audience a free to play mobile game garners mihoyo wants to capitalize on the largest demographic of people possible cuz it means more money and if you ask me its probably where most of their revenue comes from. So with this in mind conceptually the game has to be made a certain way ie: family friendly fantasy anime artstyle to attract the weebs/children (especially children), the control scheme has to be simple enough for a touch screen, but it also cant be too hard to ensure the mobile players don't get frustrated and keep playing. What you end up with is a community as accessible to kids and high functioning autists as the game it worships and generally speaking the communities built around media meant for those types are usually the worst around.

Good thread OP, I knew Genshin would end up here someday with those “boycotts”. Like a random twitter user once said it’s amusing how western fans can find all those things to complain about while ignoring the fact this is a Chinese game, sure, who cares about the real life dictatorship? These fuckers better know we need more black people in the game.
