ghost in the shell live action?

I'm okay with this.

I don't know about the anime, but the casting seems natural enough.

The only thing I see coming out of a Americanized GITS is a Matrix knockoff.
This. And ScarJo is too womanly to be The Major. I don't think there's an actress in Hollywood that isn't dead or inactive/retired that could pull it off. But as I pointed out in chat they'll just end up throwing in the action and removing the entire philosophical backdrop and we'll end up with just another bland action movie.

I foresee a popcorn flick with neutered philosophy because they don't want to put the drollies through the effort of actually thinking about things. All Hollywood thinks is needed for a good flick is action, fast pacing, explosions, with a slice of romance. I'm calling it the major will be receiving a love interest who will help her get in touch with her human/women side.

What idiot though that a live action GITS movie was a good enough idea to begin with? GITS, at least from my experience, is a little obscure to the general "I'm an naruto!" anime viewing public (If you know what GITS is to begin with, your fucking awesome), let alone the mainstream American public who know jack shit about anime to begin with.

So if this was green light becasue some Suit was thinking they were going to make some money, they're an complete idiot who's going to lose their investment, becasue I doubt the general public is going to give a rats ass enough to watch it, GITS fans never asked for an Americanized version and won't see it besides maybe out of morbid curiosity, and apparently nobody learned form what happened the last time with that terrible DBZ movie.

The best we can really hope for is that the studios dump a ton of money into this thing and it bombs harder than Speed Racer. Then hopefully they'll scrap any lingering plans of making any more live action animu adaptations (Evangelion, Akira, fucking Leonardo DiCaprio's Robotech).

I'm sure it will be a flop but it still might be good for a laugh or two. I want to see who else they cast for the rest of Section 9. I could see them missing a couple of members or combining them to save time.

Batou will be played by Idris Elba and Togusa will be played by the least famous Hemsworth brother.

Also, the mandatory comic relief will be Pazu played by Kevin Hart because we're not done shoving him down your throats yet.

Saito and Borma will just be extras that die on the first mission. And the Tachikomas will all be voiced by Miley Cyrus.

Variety mentions it still hasn't been greenlit.

If this actually happens here's my bitchy comment about how they'll shit it up: Whateverkomas talk like those two from BayFormers 2.

I'm gonna also go ahead and predict the entire movie will be a super abridged version of SAC season 1.

Meh. I'm not optimistic. If the reviews are decent I'll go and see it, but I don't think that Hollywood could pull it off.

Scarlett sure has been doing a lot of science fiction lately. I really enjoyed Under the Skin but I heard Lucy was crap. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this project is just going to fizzle out like the planned Akira remake starring Leonardo Di Caprio. Live-action anime adaptations are rarely successful (Dragonball Z anyone?).
