Only decent dating sims are

This thread has reminded me that I haven't sat down to play a game in such a long time, I always get stuck in the "deciding what to play" part and end up giving up.

Off the top of my head on what I remember enjoying that would fit the "girly" category: 1BitHeart (super cute artstyle), Disgaea (I own 1-4 but haven't finished 1), Fragile Dreams (my old wii broke before I could finish and now don't have the space to set up motion controls), Persona 3 Portable (There's also P5 but I'm struggling hard to enjoy it as much as P3P).

I also enjoy my fair share of im@s, but suck at the rhythm aspect nowadays when they start going really fast. There's also the eternal prison of granblue fantasy that knows how to pander to the female audience enough to keep them from complaining too much.
During White Day the characters talk to you and give gifts, some of them even get these special CGs.

They'll have entire events that pander towards girls or put a fujo bait character into normal events that they'll tease is getting a unit release.

and seasonal units, including summer, so they can release stuff like this.

Heart's Medicine series: It plays a bit like the Delicious series, but instead follows an aspiring resident as she takes care of patients (a few stages are at the nursery), finds love between two suitors, and follows some engaging plots (especially after the first game).

God I love Eustace. I like how self aware the game is with the ear petting thing.

Part of me wishes they'd do more than one male summer SSR per year, but then I remember how Fate grand order doesn't even have a single male summer unit and instead just does costumes that usually aren't even summer themed, so in comparison Granblue is like a feast.

Yeah, summer can get pretty girl heavy with releases during the summer or really any other seasonal event but personally I find most of the guy seasonals just higher quality if that makes sense. Most recently there was the building hype over valentine grimnir and when he actually released people lost it, they also seemed to put a bunch of work into him with the dual uncap art depending on if you're dj or gran. I'm still waiting for Belial to get a unit release because I know the game servers will die, him just getting a summon already took him to the top of twitter trending due to how popular he is. I never got into FGO after hearing about the terrible rates and that if I liked any of the guys it would be easier to just look up fanart then try and get them in game.

They're definitely edging the Belialfuckers on purpose, considering how popular he is. It's fine though, cause considering how they recently gave him his part in GBF versus and the 5* seraphic weapons storyline he's already gotten way more content than a bunch of other characters who are liked. Which is to say, grand Rein never.

Does Stardew Valley count? I logged over 90 hours in that. I loved the simple accomplishments like my potatoes coming in or clearing another 5 levels in the mine.

I also enjoyed The Sims 3, where I made my character a bestselling novelist living beneath his means in a doublewide trailer.

Would recommend "long live the queen" by hanako games. You play as a girl who's queen mother has just died and since her husband, your father, wasn't of the royal line, you are now the new queen as a 15-year old girl. Or will be if you manage to survive until your coronation.

Intrigue

There are a series of nobles who are each scheming to either arrange a marriage with you or get you killed, or get you declared unfit to rule. There is also the threat of four neighbouring countries who might bring you some trouble, with one having clear intentions of invading.

Emotions & clothes

Most of the game is managing your emotional states, clothes and skill development (taking clear inspiration from princess maker).

Certain emotional states are more conducive to certain type of skill development. For example, if she's feeling lonely or cheerful, she'll get a boost to developing social skills like flattery and public speaking. But feeling depressed or under pressure, is terrible for social skills.

Whereas being depressed is great for developing animal handling skills or music related skills. Honestly good balance between not too complex and not too simple. It has a bit of a learning curve as there are 4 emotion sliders that result in a single emotional state.

Skills

Developing the right skills and dealing with the various crises is also important. Crises like people getting poisoned, rebellious peasants, military invasions or who to dance with at the festival. The last may be the most difficult and important of those choices.

Death

Best part is that most of the time you won't reach the end of the year. There are about 40 different ways to die, and unless you have the right survival skills, or survival choices, or the right allies, you will die. It's almost like a narrative roguelike in that sense. The wide array of endings and achievements keep you engaged.

Endings

It is not possible to both discover who killed your mother AND achieve peace with a warring nation. There are many such tradeoffs in the story line, but there are definitely great endings and terrible endings.

Lore

One of the best parts is the intrigue web and the lore skills, of which there are about 5. Leveling up those skills gives you insight on when your advisors are lying to you, because you know the history is different than what they tell you. Pretty intricate history too.

But then if you focus on lore, will you have the decorating skill to have a nice coronation and make the people love you? Choices, choices.

One of the endings had a letsplayer break out in tears at how adorable the ending is, and I could see why, but I wouldn't want to spoil it.

As a fag, the girliest game I can think of is fucking Overwatch.

More annoying twinks and fat girls play that game than anything else, I find. I have yet to figure out just what it is that makes it so appealing. It can’t be the waifus, so is it the anime-like environment? The Strong Womxn characters? The yaoi ship possibilities? I really want to know.

Because it doesn't require skill to have some success.

My girlfriend LOVES My Time at Portia, as well as Slime Rancher. I gotta say, I can't get enough when I watch her play. Fucking incredible. 10/10 recommend for both.

I saw this thread and was immediately going to bring up Slime Rancher. I've sunk so many hours into that game and my husband and I have turned out save files into a competition to see who can get upgrades fastest or who has the more appealing use of the space provided for gadgets and decorations. All my giant cat slimes have bowties!

I've also got an embarrassing amount of hours in Stardew Valley.

Banished is a neat little city builder that I love.

And I'd be lying not to mention the Sims 3 (I never bought 4) where I have a massive mods folder for things like hair and furniture that suit my taste.

I kind of feel like Legend of Zelda Minish Cap is a bit more female-oriented than other Zelda games I've played. Mostly because everyone is an adorable chibi, there's little mouse-elf creatures, nothing really scary happens, and there's a little "social" component with fusing Kinstones.
