As a South Asian, this thread gives me autism like I've never seen before. Do you not realise that religion in and of itself varies wildly depending on the context? Christianity is a "white" religion, but you neglect to realise that it's actually a Middle Eastern religion at its core. Have you ever paid any attention to the Eastern Rites of Christianity? It's a completely different ball game compared to the milquetoast flavours of Christ worship in the West (i.e. every Protestant denomination under the sun, whatever the fuck the Catholic Church became after Vatican II, etc).

Why would I, as a South Asian man, want to practice Christianity as it exists in the West when I'm liable to have openly LGBTQ+ clergy and not even receive any sacraments beyond weekly communion and maybe a confessional depending on how busy the local pastor is?

Tyranny is ingrained into human nature itself. If humanity is the best hope we've got then there is no hope. We won't create a good world because we cannot create a good world. It's like expecting a beaver to build a computer.

I would go further than OP and say that you need God for freedom and hope to exist even on a metaphysical scale rather than everything being deterministic. If atheism/scientism is true then it's absolutely nothing short of incredible that anything good ever happens.
