Going to the movie theater alone.

If your feeling nervous take a case of beer with you to calm your nerves. Burp and fart through the entire film, throwing the disused cans at anyone who tries to chide you. Go for a sleep at 3/4 through the film and when the cinema staff try to wake you and get you to leave. Tell them to fuck off.

Thats what I do anyway......

It's a different experience when you're watching a movie on a big screen, in the dark, with your attention focused only on the movie. No matter how Zen you are, if you're watching a movie at home, you're going to end up multitasking at some point. People walk by you, the phone rings, you pick up your needlepoint project because it's not like the movie is subtitled,

This is perfectly fine; not every movie needs the classic theater experience. Being a stickler for only seeing things at the theater even if it's just another cash-grab sequel or reboot is a lot like when contestants on cooking shows just throw truffle on everything as a transparent attempt to boost perceived value.

OP wants to see a decades-old movie that was culturally significant and has a history of making nerds feel emotions. That's a good movie to see in a theater!

As far as generally going to movies alone, you're overthinking it. I go to the movies alone a lot of the time, because I don't want to convince someone to come see a movie they're probably not going to be into. I'd feel guilty about that, like it was my responsibility they had a bad evening. In a related story, the local art house did a revival of Eraserhead and man, there's your case in point for movies that are different in a theater, and also the place to note that it isn't fair to make anyone else watch Eraserhead with you if they're kind of lukewarm about it.

I own the $200 premium special edition BD box set.
I bought the steel case edition of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom for $10. The movie is shitty and I regret it.
It’s also nice to be around people who also enjoy the same things. Sometimes it’s even an event.
Have you ever seen the people who watch anime? I doubt they can even tolerate each other. lol

What's stopping you?
You're worried about what some randos (who you will never meet or talk to) might think of you?
Get rid of that mindset, those people don't matter in your life, they're just background extras.
i second this. it is advice i have followed and has helped a lot with my social anxiety. ive been to movies alone before and dont have a problem with it.
the thing to think is not to worry about some random asshole judging you for a second or two, but think about your own personal enjoyment. why should you let some asshole who you will never see again ruin something for you? if you would have fun watching the movie alone then do it. and if some asshole doesnt like it, then fuck him, it's your life not his.

Especially anime, especially if it's subbed.
