I'm gonna ramble a bit but I hate when people like this "golbats" blog say that concept of intelligence is "ableist" and that calling people "stupid" and the like is as well. They think they're being radical but they're basically feeding into the idea lack of intelligence = having disabilities if the first thing they think of when someone says the word "stupid" is people with disabilities. It's true that people who have learning and/or developmental disorders are more likely to be insulted for their perceived lack of intelligence than those who don't have them but that just means we should avoid insulting people for having disabilities and not stop calling out people when they actually do dumb stuff.

"So if you want to argue that disabled people aren't stupid, you'll have to argue that they aren't really disabled, or have to reject the concept of intelligence"? It's as though they think people like Steven Hawking, who is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest physicists of the century and has a visibility disability, don't exist. Really it's as if tumblr forgets that people can have disabilities that aren't mental illnesses.

Shit, guys, I had no idea that as soon as you get a diagnosis for Asperger's, Obama's SS Death Panels can come in and take you away to the FEMA camps and have you executed for being a sperg who doesn't shut up about anime.

... Wait, I may be confusing these guys with those survivalist militia nuts. It's really hard to tell them apart, neither of them make any kind of sense.

I would not doubt it in the slightest. His personal blog contains a lot of "I'm shitty at talking to people in real life THEREFORE AUTISM" sandwiched between the same ridiculous politics you'd find on GFE. Comes off like a privileged college kid who vigilantly refuses to admit he could ever be wrong, because this little circlejerk is the only form of positive interaction he has.

Have these people ever been around children? Children are stupid! Hell, when I was a child I ate dog food and shoved different toys in my mouth because I wanted to know what they tasted like.

Also what is up with these tags? Since when was #gamergate interested in the dietary needs of children?

I'm so thankful tumblr wasn't around when I was a teenager. At least when I was young all these wacko fringe groups were scattered across the internet, not all concentrated in one spot like a giant pustulate zit....god fuckin damn

Agreed. Shit, I'm glad MySpace didn't become a big thing until after I'd already graduated high school.

I always got the impression that cutting surged into popular awareness specifically because of people on MySpace showing off their scars for emo cred.

I doubt half of the diagnosis that a diagnostician does is having a conversation. I don't know if this is power leveling but I know when I went to the diagnostic clinic we talked a little, and then he had me put blocks together to match what was on the paper and pick what the next pic would be in a series of pics and the part in a shape that was missing. Then he had me repeat the words he said and tell what two words he said had in common and what words meant. After that I answered questions with those fill in the bubble sheets and did about twenty math questions and drew pictures. It took about 5 hours. It's a lot different from self-diagnosis.
