Good media that is hampered by fandom?

The hard truth is that Sonic games were that good to begin with. Gameplay wise was always kinda weak even in the 2d titles.
As someone who grew up during the 16-bit console wars and for a time sided with Sega... yeah I basically agree. As a kid they were fun, but nowadays I tend to get bored in like five minutes.

Same goes for Mario. The gameplay is just too basic for me.

Mega Man games tend to hold up though, especially the first four X games.

It's a kid-friendly platformer. I couldn't pass the fourth level in Sonic 1 when I was a kid.

Mario games that were considered difficult in the 80s/90s are still dickish today. There will never be a Sonic the Hedgehog game as hard as Mario 3.

Mario 3 isn't even my idea of "hard" (not bragging, just even as a kid I never saw this legendary difficulty. Dickishness maybe, but that's not always the same thing).

Wanna talk 8-bit Difficulty, go with either Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden. The latter I still can't beat any of the games in the trilogy.

D&D (and other tabletop games but D&D is the worst fan-wise)

Very fun game. Great way to exercise your creativity, but ever since motherfucking 5th edition and Critical Role it’s been plagued with Tumblrinas, furries and other degenerates, wokesters and theater kid faggots.

This is a game where gatekeeping is absolutely necessary. Stick with your own friends that play, or if you’re looking to play with a new group, stick with the ones who like 2e, AD&D or 3.5
Absolutely this. I've never had so much fun using my acting skills and planning things out with my DM is a blast. The silver lining to TTRPGs is you're more likely to find SJWs and other ilk in online games because I've noticed most degenerates really don't like to go outside and meet face to face with each other.

I wouldn't say it's a fandom, but as soon as Chris Chan began to get more exposure on the mainstream internet everything went to shit. We've had what are arguably the worst and most boring sagas in Christory thanks to people enabling his delusions, attempting to be the next cool trolls or attempting to make Chris their own pet lolcow.

People bitch about the first sonic the hedgehog being "bad" because of the difficulty and dickishness(+no manual spin dash button) but they say it's good when it's mario 3 doing similar bullshit. There are entire video essays on the internet about how marble zone is bad because you aren't constantly going fast andsonic's supposedly supposed to be fast when the whole point of the stage is to show players you shouldn't just bum rush through everything in a video game or you're gonna fucking die. Sonic is just bing bing wahoo gameplay but wiht more physics involved, after all. Overall I view about all mainline sonic and mario games I've played from the pixel eras as being around the same tier of difficulty when evened out though the difficulty is less of the controls and more of the hazards and muscle memory required to pull off certain stunts.

I've noticed with videogames in general I can't stay with one single genre for an extreme amount of time or i'll get burnt out for a bit, sometimes a few years even. games like sonic and mario, most platformers in general of that kind really, are indeed pretty simple gameplay/controls wise but that's also a strength of sorts. Megaman's pretty identical in terms of complexity IMO but you also reminded me though I need to get back to playing some megaman again sometime lmao.

It's weird and sad how it went from unintentionally funny, socially awkward, egotistical bastard on the internet that wants gf, to Twitter Troon anime Larper hiding behind several walls of "managers" and "fellow goddesses"telling him what to say. Nothing can escape the eternal current year, not even chris.
