Call me old fashioned,
but the serifs implied some air of legitimacy or the kind of trustworthiness of an old and well-established business.
Even when others were changing their logos to match fads at the time, theirs remained static. Kinda crummy to see it go, now it looks like "every other logo".
Did they really put that much thought into the design of their logo?
Just you wait, if Google can change their logo. Chances are they'll probably do it with their "baby" sometime down the line.Is YouTube the only one now that hasn't changed their logo in a number of years? I don't think I can recall any other "big internet" business retaining their old one.

Also the 'e' at the end is crooked and it is triggering me. Switching to DuckDuckGo.
I'm a Keith Mansfield person myself.I prefer the old logo. This one feels depersonalized, and it feels souless. The old Google logo was classy, elegant, yet light and unformal, being a good indicator of the internet at the time.
