GPUs & CPUs & Enthusiast hardware: Questions, Discussion and fanboy slap-fights - Nvidia & AMD & Intel - Separe but Equal. Intel rides in the back of the bus.

To my knowledge. You should only hitting those kind of SSD temps if you were running work loads where there was prolonged reads and writes to the drive.

Gaming shouldn’t be pushing a drive to throttling temps as far as I am aware, but having a heat sink obviously doesn’t hurt and could prolong the life of the drive.
It's life I care about. It's not a game drive. It's storage. I want it to last as long as possible and not frag itself before it hits it 2000 tbw limit. A penny wise and all that.

My NVIDIA 1070 is shitting the bed. Fan not operating at all, 50+ c on idle, and I'm getting TDR failure all the time. I'm cheaper than a Jew, so I don't want to waste a thousand dollars on something brand new. Been looking up GPUs and Amazon's offering a refurbished 1070. Reviews are good but I'm not sure. Anything my kiwis could recommend?

When you say jew… that could mean a lot of different things :story:… what is your budget?

I have a 4070 super. The thing plays literally anything I throw at it. Just go for it bro.

A new fan if you're feeling really Semitic. In that price range, a 3050 is better buy than a 1070. DLSS is dope. For $300, you can get a 4060 that will put your old 1070 in the garbage forever.

Honestly, as long as it's below a thousand. That's just fucking ridiculous. Besides, I don't really play anything new.
If you want good value and longevity the 7800xt is a good option if you go new.

You could also go for a used 3060 12gb for relatively cheap too if you’re playing at 1080p and don’t want to spend more than $300. Could also go AMD and get a 6800 for under $400

If you don’t want to go AMD the 4070 super and the 4070ti super are also good options for under $1,000

I'll think about it

Honestly the 4070 super is great. It kicked Cyberpunk's ass if you need to know how hard it can go. 12 gig memory seems mid, but i never see it max out either. You'd have to be pushing it fucking hard to actually stress it out.

I think I'll oy vey and get the 4060 then.

>$800+
MY HANDS
I CAN'T RUB THEM

i checked nvidia instead of best buy
well still like twice the cost of the other one so the jew in me is still opposed
Bro you won't have to upgrade for a decade. Penny wise pound foolish. The 4060 is obsolete the moment the 50 series drops. But your money man.

If the guy plays nothing new and sits at 1080p/60fps the 4060 will last a decade lol.
Once next gen consoles come out, I think any card with 8gb of vram will be instantly obsolete because (I assume) next gen consoles will have more unified memory and game developers will start developing with that in mind.

He did say he doesn’t play anything new, but my advice would be to have card capable in case their is a new game that comes along that changes your mind.

Yes, but that's at least 3 years away. By then there will be 6070s making all this obsolete.
