There's no benefit unless you want more cores. I am still rolling with 12th gen. Prices of these cpu's haven't really come down at all and with the degradation fiasco it seems sticking with it is even better choice.

This is especially crazy when you consider you could pick up 4060s last year for like $270 (which is what I did for my living room PC). Hell, I think 5060s are hovering near that price point if you look hard enough. You basically save 20-30 dollars and get astronomically worse performance. It uses the same amount of power as the 4060 while delivering less performance. That is impressive.
Pretty much any AM5 CPU is overkill for a modern gaming setup and will work well with a 5060 TI 16GB. A 7700X/9700X will give you eight cores without fully breaking the bank (some upcoming games like Sloplands 4 want 8 cores for some reason) but you'd probably be fine with a 7600X/9600X.So...is a 5060 ti 16 gig + AM5 amd cpu pc worth it? And if so what AMD cpu should i use?
Are you going to play some obscure game based on 30 year old Russian codebase? DCS Then 7800X3D/9800X3D is the best choice.So...is a 5060 ti 16 gig + AM5 amd cpu pc worth it? And if so what AMD cpu should i use?
I am a pc newbie so the 5060 ti 16 gig seems like the most affordable option ( i hear the 9060 xt is good too and has improved upscaling/RT)better GPU.
It's a good low-midrange GPU for this gen. My point is more that you'll see a lot of people recommend X3D CPUs online but you get more value out of getting a non-X3D CPU and spending the money you save on a better GPU.I am a pc newbie so the 5060 ti 16 gig seems like the most affordable option ( i hear the 9060 xt is good too and has improved upscaling/RT)
Let's look that bish up: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/arc-a310.c3930Does the Intel Arc a310 benefit from a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot or should I stick it in a x16(x8 bus) slot on my server and reserve the x16 slot for a 4x m.2 drive holder?
Case closedBus Interface: PCIe 4.0 x8
Last major card gen that used 3.0 was the RTX 2000 series if i recall. It is thoroughly outdated.
So to clarify if it drops to 3.0 it won't somehow be able to take advantage of a full x16 bus?
Yeah a PCIe 4.0 x8 device goes to PCIe 3.0 x8 when you stick it in an x8 or x16 slot. It doesn't magically become PCIe 3.0 x16.So to clarify if it drops to 3.0 it won't somehow be able to take advantage of a full x16 bus?
5070, 5070 Ti, 9070, 9070 XT. The categorizations are all a little bit skewed nowadays though. And 'good' mostly depends on what prices are on a given day as they fluctuate so much.Whats a good high mid range GPU then?
I think, depending on how Windows automatically sets up multi low and high power GPUs, that he is actually using the 5090 for games despite the fuck up. If you go into "Settings > Display > Graphics" and have an iGPU and dGPU, you'll see that Windows automatically assigns apps to a specific one. This is true for desktops too. There's a slight performance penalty playing games like this versus just plugging the monitor directly into the main GPU.
Real question... just how does anybody buy a 5090 and decide to use an HDMI port?
The most impressive part is that XQc still has enough brain cells to know that you have to hook up your monitor to your dGPU to actually have it use that to know what was the fuckup here
DisplayPort: weird, new, scaryReal question... just how does anybody buy a 5090 and decide to use an HDMI port?
5070
My monitor doesn’t even have any displayports.Real question... just how does anybody buy a 5090 and decide to use an HDMI port?
If his monitor is only HDMI 2.1, he's limited to just 188 fps at 4K, which is basically unplayable in modern games.DisplayPort: weird, new, scary
HDMI: known, old, friendly
Remember that the average person doesn't even know how limited HDMI is compared to DisplayPort, nor to they give a shit. A Twitch streamer is that, but with an extra chromosome.
