If you're fine with previous gen parts there's still stock of RX 7900 XT and XTX's available. Not for as cheap as they were but they're just under $1000 and you get 20 - 24GB of VRAM out of them.

For second-hand it's not that good. Used 4090's are still going for $2000.

Otherwise you could wait and see what NVidia does with the 50-series Super refreshes they're working on which are rumoured to be 18GB for the 5070 (Ti?) Super and 24GB for the 5080 Super. Dunno what the prices would be, but definitely won't be cheap.
three years ago we had 24GB vram gpu's but now we barely hit 16GB.
what the fuck went wrong within these 3 years... outside AI craze.

I’d stick with Nvidia if the 5060ti is within $50 of the 9060XT
for what you can find right now 9060XT is at 390$ and 5060ti is at 500$
<insert drivers incompatibility fucking amd meme here>

18 GB 5070 Super
24 GB 5070 Ti Super
24 GB 5080 Super

No 12 GB refreshes confrimed for the 8 GB cards yet.

They're on the same die right? Same CUDA count? So not really any performance uplift over the already pathetic difference between the 40 and 50 series.
Same dies and core counts for the 5080 Super + 5070 Ti Super, faster memory for the 5080 Super as if that matters, suspiciously large TDP bumps so maybe they can be clocked higher.

The 5070 Super is the real winner, going from 12 GB to 18 GB, which will make a much bigger impact than 16 GB to 24 GB, and gaining +4% cores. Those will help it to finally tie the 4070 Tie (non-Super).

Super refreshes tend to not have super high performance uplifts, the 5080 base has a good amount of OC headroom however

Multi-Frame Generation. Another added list of Nvidia's proprietary software.
Was he starting from a base frame rate of 60fps+ or trying to make 20 fps playable?

AMD drivers this generation have been far better than NVidia drivers. Probably because NVidia's drivers are now made by pajeets.
Other than that time they got people locked out of games because Fluid Motion Frames triggered anti-cheat.

Building a new pc because a power surge fucked up my 5 year old build...
Deciding to go with a 9800x3d bundle from microcenter for $650 (upgrading the Mobo to a non-asus one, given asus has shit rma support here in the states), and 64gb ram (only can do rgb crap as part of the bundle, eh whatever).
Debating on a 9060 xt 16gb or 5060 ti 16gb, I only really play Microsoft Flight Sim 2024/2020 anymore, and that game loves CPU cache and vidya ram; I previously used lossless scaling on my RTX 3080 10gb that worked wonders for fram gen at 1440p and some 4k gaming. However given that I need a gpu right now, and that the price I'd pay most currently for a gpu ($1,000), doesn't give me more than 16gb vram; i'd prefer to wait. I'm fine with going for a lower level GPU as years ago I gave my old GTX 1080 to my nephew as an upgrade for him, and I eventually want to give whatever I get now to him once the higher VRAM cards are released next year or so.
I'm leaning AMD, as I really like what Lossless Scaling can do, and I've seen a buddy run MFG on his 5070 ti with a lot of ghosting and stuttering with frame gen on his flight sim setup, but I don't mind sticking with Team Green for now, figured I'd see what y'all think of this idea/which route to take (I'd probably go Nvidia still if EVGA was still around, but I've heard that XFX, Sapphire, and Powercolor are similar to EVGA for Team Red).
As a follow up, I went with a rtx 5070 TI for $840; they have a promo if ur a college student (my college email is still somehow active, even after graduating 2 years ago) where you can get 10% cash back (up to $100), as amazon store credit, plus I was able to use my chase amazon credit card to an addition 5% cash back. This decreases the cost down to about $714 before taxes (might be lower depending on how the cash back is calculated before or after tax), plus another $7.50 for the month of Amazon student.
This makes the card under msrp, and I imagine it’ll retain its value better over time vs what and amd card would. I used the cash back for my psu order (1200w).

Do you guys think this is a good value? I’m aware gaming laptops are a meme.

i would look at upping teh 16GB memory, the 4050 specs tell it's aight and if you start to play a bigger game then the 7445HS will handle some of it but your guess is as good as mine if it's the 400MHZ or the 1500MHZ Radeon 610M.
APU gaming is something i was looking into lately, buying meself a 5600GT and slapping 64GB of 3200 MHZ ram to just game away instead of relying on a discreet GPU but the fucking cache is what ticked me off... so i am waiting for the next series of apu's instead.

Is the 9060xt 16gb a worthwhile upgrade from the b580? I found a 9060 for about $100 more than my b580. Should I get it or is it just a sidegrade?

This is the kind of entry-level gaming laptop that may go down to $500 (usually refurb) eventually, and I would judge it entirely on the GPU since we don't care about the CPU/efficiency: https://slickdeals.net/search?q=hp+victus+4050

Looks like your deal at ebay, same price: https://slickdeals.net/f/1842967
Earlier thread for Best Buy, $700 price: https://slickdeals.net/f/18383014

Since you're on Best Buy, I would consider the Open Box Excellent option, which would bring it down to $615 likely without sacrificing anything. Open Box Excellent usually means it was immediately returned with no real use/damage.

RTX 4050 mobile has 6 GB VRAM, which is low, but a solid improvement on 3050 and 3050 Ti models that only had 4 GB (3050 6 GB had cut down memory bus and bandwidth). I guess those are mostly gone from the market by now.
