GPUs & CPUs & Enthusiast hardware: Questions, Discussion and fanboy slap-fights - Nvidia & AMD & Intel - Separe but Equal. Intel rides in the back of the bus.

Legitimately pissed this morning. My local Microcenter got a restock of EVGA 3060ti's and 3070's, so I woke up early and went to get in the real life line they set up at 6 a.m. to hand out cards.

The fuckers running the line were giving preference to their friends. Whom outright admitted they were only there to get cards to scalp online. I was literally third in line and they just went around me and handed all 10 cards out to these shits. Everyone else got a "lolsorry." All the other people in line were so pissed I thought I'd witness a mini riot.

Needless to say that Microcenter has lost all my business in the future. I've spent thousands there over the last 15 years building my different rigs. I'll be going full online now.
Nah, I woulda said something if some shit like that happened. Enough witnesses can make a case to the manager or even higher up.

We actually did try and get a manager. One of the guys doing it claimed to be the store manager and "What he says goes." It was probably BS but I'm probably going to write up a complaint and send it to the main corporate office later today. Lord knows it'll make me feel like a karen, but I've not been so legit pissed in quite some time.

Also, thank you @Secret Asshole for the crypto guide write up a few pages back. I've been thinking about throwing together a bunch of old parts and cards for a seperate mining rig and the mini guide is extremely helpful. Obviously the older parts won't be as capable in mining as newer stuff, but I'm thinking it can't hurt as the parts are basically just sitting around unused anyway.

And I completely second having a shit tier GPU as a backup in this current environment. I'm keeping a 1050ti off to the side in case my current card dies and I need something to make sure I can still use my computer in some form.

So now they have got a load of cards that are only good for miners, and miners can use the non-mining cards as well.

This is exactly the sort of footbullet that AMD should be capitalising on. They should delay launch of the Radeon 6700 to build up stock levels then sell it with the slogan, "we have graphics cards, you don't, any questions."

PC Gamer did the walk of shame:

Nvidia's unhackable GeForce RTX 3060 hash rate limiter may not have been hacked after all

I suspect in a quarter or two when game publishers realize their sales are tanking because people are parting out their PCs not wanting to deal with any more of this bullshit, we'll all have a sarcastic pikachu face.
Gratz, Nvidia and AMD.
Take your 30 pieces of silver during this mining craze because you're killing future market gains.

Its not miners that are the problem, its the fucking bots. NVIDIA are just greedy cocksuckers who want to double dip.
Well yes and no. All sights can put in the same protocols as it is done for music/sports shows to get tickets in the US. Scalping has been reduced by over 50% for ticket sales

The lazy ass motherfuckers AMD and Nvidia won't do it on their sites and the rest of the fucking world have no incentive. Which in turn leads to greed.

It does not matter if it is toilet paper (what happened last year because of the coof) or video cards or what ever that might be of value that has been placed by the greed of man....

This is the society we live in now. So as state before I have no qualms " popping a cap" into someone... legally speaking that is... because of those fools out there.

If I can tell Steve Jobs to suck my dick and cancel a multi million dollar cleaning contract, right in front of him, do you really think I give one real shit on people giving excuses on why they are scamming the market???

And actually those lazy ass manufacturing motherfuckers are using the marketing data to give their fucking excuse of keeping the pricing of their video cards high. Yay... great...

AND FINALLY THERE ARE TOO MANY ASS MOTHERFUCKERS that are so RETARDED that they will buy because of their short attention span/self gratification metal state says...

Ohhh It's shiney....

And you begin to wonder why and -then- understand why 85% of the people in the world are (wage) slaves to the other 15%.

Hindsight is a bitch. Yes, I should have. Probably not worth much in the long run, but I did end up sending out a complaint to corporate though.

Microcenter can be an amazing place but they aren't perfect by a long shot. They will pull the same shady shit as any other retailer. (Aka prices going up during "sales" etc.)

My friend, if I could rate you Drink! I would. Cheers. This improved my day.

Cell phone footage? Because this is the sort of shit you record and plaster all over Twitter/FB/Instagram and then step back as the Internet Hate Machine goes full throttle on the company, staff and would-be scalpers. No need to do an arson in Minecraft.

Lol, it's like them putting a higher price on Zen3, only to cross it out and list it for msrp as if they're giving you a deal :D

Micro Center is selling 5600X and 5800X for $20 under MSRP. There could be a permanent price cut at most retailers soon, sometime after Rocket Lake launches on March 30.
If lower end RKL proves to be competitive unlike the (as far as we know) trainwreck 11700k, I'm hoping we finally see non-X zen3 parts.

You know, a hexa-core no hyperthreading Ryzen 5500 would be pretty compelling for a budget gaming machine. The only game I have that hammers all eight cores and sixteen threads of my 3700X is Cyberpunk 2077 (which may be one of the reasons it's a shitshow on console; the current gen consoles are still using Bulldozer and they just aren't grunty or heavily threaded enough for CDPR's strategy of "develop for top end PC then downgrade onto console" to work). A lot of games still assume that nobody has more than a quad-core, though that is absolutely changing (MS Flight Simulator 2020 requires a hexa-core CPU, for instance) so I would recommend a hexa-core to future proof regardless.

5600X has the best value. I wanted to have SUPAR GAMING PCMAN and upgrade to the 5900X but the gains aren't worth it and apparently everything above the 5600X runs hot. Even with my Noctuna cooler it runs at 80 degrees playing games. I can't imagine buying one of the hotter CPUs.

I'd love to play with one with my open loop, but no way was I justifying that purchase lol.
