Has anybody ever used the cinematic camera while driving? Or better, the top down camera homage from GTA III?
I used the top down in GTA III. I was bummed they removed it in Vice City and on. It didn't seem like something that would have been hard to have just to keep the memory of their roots alive.

I'd use the cinematic camera when I was just cruising around.

I like using cinematic camera in planes or boats way more, especially in the older games where tumbling your car over instantly catches it on fire.
Planes and boats tend to have less obstruction, so I can really enjoy it more rather than anxiously wondering where the blind obstacle will be.

Using it for fun was one thing, using it with any practicality was another. I remember the 3D buildings AROUND that POV would obstruct my surroundings while driving.

Agree. I probably did use it more with boats in Vice City than anything else now that I think about it.

I use it when cops are chasing me on the beach in VC, or when speeding around the airports in 4/5. I always liked that they kept the top down camera for 3. I wonder if anybody's ever tried beating the game just using that camera.

Somebody did, actually. The struggle comes with the mission where you have to collect packages from a helicopter and with crossing the raising bridge.

What is the best way to play the Stories games these days? Should I just play them in a PS2 emulator?
You can.
PPSSPP is the lighter emulator, and cheating on it is way easier than PCSX2.
If you only care about the vanilla exprience, VCS has more content on the PS2; LCS is almost the same only some bug fixes, and has a "smart" phone port (there are android emulators too).
There were also mods to bring them to the SA engine on PC, but they were abandoned at about 70 to 90% completion. There's also GTA Underground bu afaik it's only the maps.

Ah, Hugo One, I think he's the only speedrunner that I watch, he makes some fun stuff with the GTA games like his GTA:SA 100% "speedrun" where he plays with the chaos mod and rainbowmizer and that video ends up clocking at like 70 hours. Fun stuff to watch if you have nothing else to do.

His randomizer ones are my personal favorites. If it's not RNG screwing him over, it's his chat being dicks for our entertainment. SA is much more fun to WATCH than to play. I'm a fan of his III/VC speedruns because of the ped dialogue.

Miss the days of 2013/2014/2015 when people like AdamAK were speedrunning Vice City and doing chaos mod runs. They glitched that game so hard where you can beat it in like 8 minutes now so nobody does it anymore. Used to watch him all the time, wish I saved some of his streams, lost to time now, which is crazy in the internet age.

From what I remember, Joshimuz is pretty cool for San Andreas speedruns, but I haven't watched him in ages.

I just want to be a whiny bitch right now. I'm trying to install the definitive edition fan patch for Vice City. It won't work on my PC or my Steam Deck. Ok, whatever shit can be jank. Their website says to ask for help on discord. Guess what? These tranny lovers want phone verification to enter their channel. FUCK THAT.

This is such a annoying thing, and it wouldn't be nearly as bad if Discord let you remove a phone number like twitter does, but that number is PERMANTLY linked to that account. Wish discord would remove that feature.

In Discord's defense, it is not a requirement to join a channel normally. It is a deliberate decision by the channel mods.

On another note; on this day, October 26, R* released two highly acclaimed video games: GTA: San Andreas & Red Dead Redemption 2.

2004 and 2018 respectively. And don't forget GTA Advance, which launched alongside GTA: San Andreas' release date.

The click bait has gotten out of hand. Its' ridiculous how many fucking social media ads I get for these bottom of the barrel gaming sites constantly reporting these made up trailer dates and year old leaks.

Who are these "leaks" aimed at? Little kids that pay for Shark Cards? Little kids that grew up on the game and are now young adults, unironically having childhood nostalgia for the fifth game? The game was leaked, we saw what it is going to look like. Why bother the further speculation?
Not like it matters, game is going to be garbage anyways, with possibly the first in nu-Rockstar's woke writing that we've seen glimpses of in GTA Online's recent updates and in Red Dead Redemption 2(that game was in development for so long that thankfully it didn't impact it as much as it could have, GTA 6 will be another story I think)
