I'm too young to understand the hype of DNF, but I AM old enough to know about Half Life 3's development hell. So, yeah, this release will be one for the ages.
Reflecting back on it, the game never had the chance to come close to meeting my lofty expectations of it. Basically, if DNF shipped as Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2011, I would have loved it. That being said Cyberpunk 2077 was another game I had huge hopes for that sucked huge dick upon release.

I am going to hold off on Grand Theft Auto 6 because I think they’re going to pull the exact same thing CP2077/CDPR did. Ship a small, highly polished portion of the game to gay ass influencers who hype it up beyond belief.

Out of those games, Rockstar North only made GTA III, VC and SA; Rockstar London made Manhunt and Rockstar San Diego made Midnight Club 2 and Red Dead Revolver.
So yes, it was a crazy run of games all under the "Rockstar Games" banner, but just for clarification, it wasn't the same team working on all these games simultaneously, it was different Rockstar studios.
But now all of those studios are working on this one game. Which is why it's taking so long for these games to release now. Huge scope and very little direction. How is a game director going to control 10 studios and 2,000 employees to make sure the game ends up the way they want?

If GTA6 is disappointing, then we are going to be in for some entertaining social media posts.
Good maybe I won't have to buy a ps5 after all.
The wild part is that even when we have to wait an extra six to seven months, optimistically speaking, the game will still just be okay at functioning well at launch, but all of the online features will have to be delayed even more before anyone starts to use it.

All I can hope for is that it does not reach MindsEye-buggy territory. That will then be a serious concern down the road.

The BEST worst case scenario would be that GTA 6 becomes an iterative entry to the GTA franchise. It has three things going for it: graphical fidelity, nostalgia from yesteryear and brand recognition afforded from their previous pedigree. What would GTA 6 do that wasn't done before?

Possible missions that parody TikTok and OnlyFans, while (maybe) doing Vice City Easter eggs with Tommy Vercetti’s likeness. I think in the second trailer there was a slight hint of possibly seeing a Phil Cassidy clone.

I'm more worried about a possible SA or IV situation when it comes to a PC release. I'd like to play the game how it should look and not some "we had to cut graphics/things down for XYZ reason so now we've basically splintered versions of the game, now wait for another 5 years so you can play it how it should look."

Oh, how much I wish I could believe this. But does "too big to fail" ring any bells? After Cyberpunk was able to be successful launching in that state, I don't think even the most catastrophic of shittyness would be able to make this game flop, at best it might underperform sales expectations.
People were not as red pilled as back then. Also there was the lockdown.

The PC version is never going to be fucking released at this point!:lossmanjack:
I think this will bite them in the ass. Only die-hard fans would buy a new console to play exclusively GTA 6. They will lose the fans that liked GTA for its moddability.

Getting that funny feeling again.

As a kid, Duke Nukem Forever was my most wanted game ever. As an adult, Grand Theft Auto 6. Considering GTA6 probably went into pre-production in 2014, lol.
GTA 6 went into preproduction around 2017 since the construction boom in Miami has been so extreme the past 10 years that you can pin it down when they took all the reference material based on what buildings are absent in Vice City now.

I don't get it. So, Vice City will be dated from its source material because Miami has a lot more buildings since GTA 6 was developed?

Go on street view in downtown Miami and compare 2017 to 2025. Did this to compare Gta 6 with google maps, I read somewhere over a dozen skyscrapers were built in those 8 years.
The entire Jack of Hearts nightclub important for story missions in GTA 6, is based on the King Of Diamonds nightclub that was shut down in 2018.
At least now we will get the trailer 3 soon?
