Two interesting videos I found:

They didn't even bother to make the car mirrors functional.
Yep, it's ray traced shadows from sunlight and moonlight only. The game also takes 30 seconds to load on PS5 when games like Ghosts of Tsushima take less than 5 seconds, and that game's from more demanding hardware than what GTA V launched with. For all intents and purposes, this "remaster" was phoned in to the point of being a mediocre next gen patch, but Rockstar still wanted to squeeze a little more money out of the game.

They had almost two years and a four month delay to take advantage of next generation hardware, and this is their best "effort".

I just want the magic of being young playing GTA 4 again. I wonder if you could sue Rockstar with how unsafe the social club is. Today I was playing RDR2 and some guy with a twitch name FORCED ME OUT OF SINGLE PLAYER.
Can't you play without being signed in to Social Club?

GTA going down this deep, dark and pathetic path just hurts bros. GTA is and always will be one of my favorite game series' of all time, but going from being stoked playing GTA IV when it came out and its episodes, to GTA V and while not being as hooked as I was to IV, still had a great time, to 9 damn years later seeing this shit just bums me out. I just want another great GTA game to sink a shit load of hours into again and have a blast, not the slog known as GTA Online.

I know, GTA Online was simultaneously the best thing to happen to their profitability, and the worst thing to happen to their sense of productivity. We've gone from 2-3 GTA games in a generation to a single GTA getting milked across 3 generations. I get that development times have increased generally, but you can't tell me this "remaster" of GTA V is on the same level as GTA VI or Red Dead Redemption II (which they've abandoned, leaving any chance of a remaster or next gen patch very dim).

This thing pisses me off more than usual since Rockstar has failed to take full advantage of next gen hardware. This could've been a chance to help shape GTA VI by getting to know the hardware's capabilities, but they clearly didn't give enough of a shit to implement proper ray tracing or do any work with the SSDs beyond their base power. Just a lazy effort all around, something that was once an unthinkable thing for Rockstar.

Considering they were able to make GTA V on PS3/360 hardware, it was insanely impressive even if the game dipped in frames underwater at murky areas, it was still extremely good. Now it's just oh wow Rockstar, you did fuck all for this gen's hardware, whereas modders can make the game 4k and look exactly like real life. Not that I'm asking for real life 4k graphics but still, it's embarrassing how much of a shill of a company they've become and just generally incompetent.

I forgot about modders, what excuse does Rockstar have to not come anywhere close to the work of free labor after almost two years?

Sorry for the double post, but I found a video that goes into detail about how lazy this port of GTA V is.

The fact that the "seamless character switching" is faster on the Xbox One with an SSD is pretty fucking embarrassing.

I would think that's false advertising. Why is R* now bad with ports? First GTA: The Trilogy (The "Definitive" Edition) now this "Expanded and Enhanced" edition.

They're milking the GTA franchise while leaving their other IPs dormant.

Worst of all, people are BUYING this. Forget Skyrim, GTA V is being milked to death. I'm surprised they didn't try to do a Switch port.

this is why i play pirated
Slut.

I played some GTA Trilogy. Its running really well. But III is hard as hell. Flamethrower on the gooks.....took me like 5 tries. And the one where you get the cash and ambush by gooks. Had to use a truck to kill most of em.
Just died in the limo mission because vehicles came flying at me in every direction.

Also is the map really as bad in the original? It isn't that helpful especially with certain places not being listed (like the place with grenades you get during Chinese Laundry mission)

GTA 3 is insanely user unfriendly. It's worse in the original.

And the winner by knockout is...!

I feel bad for the new players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at Rank 5 trying to complete Freemode Missions being ganked by players who migrated their characters with the Oppressor Mk,II

I don't think III even had an in-game map. Am I remembering right?
No world map, just your minimap on the HUD is what I remember from III. Its game world is small enough for that not to matter, though R* doesn't think so as the full map appeared in LCS later.

Side note, does anyone here also use GTA games as autistic driver job simulators? I have so many hours spent in 3D universe games driving taxis and doing trucker jobs that a lot of areas are still fresh in my memory years later.
