I restrain myself from both hopping on the hype train or immediately attacking the video game right after the first trailers are out.

It's fine but not impressive. Sure, the visuals are great and all, but nothing meaningful is mentioned about the story or the gameplay. I guess it still gets the attention from normies and it's easier to market that way.

If it crashes and burns, I'll have fun watching the trashfire and buying the game for 5 bucks at a Steam sale 6 months later. If it's great, well, it's great.

Just hoping it's not somewhere in between, but who am I kidding, it could very well be.

Maybe one of the reasons it doesn’t seem as interesting and appealing is just the times we live in?

GTA games have always been their best when they took elements from society and movies, parodied them and turned it up to a ridiculous max.

Now compare the US in 2023 with the US when GTA5 came out.

Noggs running rampant looting everywhere.
Tent cities.
Zombies looking for their next fix.
Humorless woke pricks everywhere.

GTA5 was fun and appealing because it took place in a twisted parody of reality.

Why would I need to play GTA6 when I’m living it every day?

I've never really been big on the GTA games and Rockstar has a history of being really shitty with their money grubbing release windows. I fully expect they intend to pull the same move they did with GTA 5 by releasing this on the dying current gen consoles, then six months later release on the new consoles, then another six months later release on PC for $70 (but hey they bundled in some in game currency!).

So yeah maybe I'll pirate this or play it in like four years when I can get it for cheap.

Well.....now you get to run over the fat, black women twirking on your car.

Old R* knew that you can show the insanity and have fun in it, but they never endorsed it like Hilary Clinton and Jack Thompson believed they did.
Didn't the GTA controversy mostly start with GTA III? The game that ends with Claude successfully achieving his goals and then shooting his girlfriend in the head? By that metric, is that "endorsing" crime? Would you be agreeing with Hilary and Jack at the time? Not to mention Tommy and CJ still built themselves up through organized crime, so wouldn't that be "endorsing" something immoral? Sounds to me like you're just making excuses for hating a particular flavor and culture of organized crime and don't want it depicted in any video game.

To experience a version of it where you have money and sexual prowess?

Hard to parody real life when real life is practically a parody of itself these days.

Aside from hoping the game checks all the marks, I hope it dunks on the alphabet cult, commufags and the like.
But I'm jaded as fuck and I'm expecting them to unironically virtue signal, screech about yt ppul, "capultulizum iz bayd", naziiiiiii bigotzzz, muh transphobia, eat the rich and lots of orange man bad.

The usual bullshit.
Hope I'm proven wrong.

This looks meh. The draw to Vice City was the 80s. I couldn't give a fuck less about Florida inspired areas nowadays and the fact that it's Rockstar means it will be massively limited at the beginning.
GTA Online has been faggoty but I can't imagine restarting it is going to go particularly well
I feel like this shit is gonna hit like Payday 3 online-wise.
Only vaguely interesting thing to me is the potential to dual-wield again, but also dual-wielding melee weapons, and the nature aspect that looks like RDR2 hunting. If they can make melee viable that'd be rad. In RDR2 I made a native-american hired gun that would prioritize tomahawking people.

That being said most games have been massively uninteresting to me for the last half a decade

"Sorry babe, but I'm an ambitious girl and you... you're just small time"
If you go back in the thread about a year when the first leaks came out and we saw Lucia for the first time, you'll see a similar type of outrage as you see right now over there being a woman in Grand Theft Auto now, and people pointing out Catalina was there from the start.

There are more niggers and degeneracy than Los Santos and that was meant to be L.A.

There really is nothing here we didn't see before in real-life or other games. How can you make a parody in a world going insane and make an open world game in a very tired genre that really felt like they have done all they could with it ?

Hard pass

The meltdown over the GTA VI trailer on /v/ (and to a lesser extent on here) is proof that the average "gamer" is clinically retarded.

GTA, a franchise that parodies the absurdity of modern America, parodies Florida by depicting it as a degenerate cesspit of black gangbangers and druggies, and people somehow think this is... what, an endorsement? That this is the same as when Steven Moffatt fills Victorian London with black people because "that's how history should have been!"? No, it's an exaggerated reflection of the world we already live in and all its ridiculous cultural trends. Anyone who is mad about this trailer is simply confirming that they're the kind of person who falls for outrage content mills like The Quartering, people looking to be mad almost purely for the sake of being mad at something.

That's probably why I'm not finding myself interested at all in the game. Society is already very clearly the caricature GTA VI is looking to reflect. Clown world games just aren't appealing in clown world times.

Doesn't look that much better than GTA5 PC and is full of niggers. No PC version, scripted shit missions and GTA Online money grab. Fuck off Cuckstar.

Not only that both Dan Houser and Laslow who have been writing and producing the radio stations for all Rockstar games have left the company. So yeah, I don't have high hopes for the radio. Which is unfortunate because it plays a big part with the in-game immersion, especially with GTA games.
Yeah, it’s a huge aspect. The way the music worked in previous games felt like a soundtrack to a film.

I remember thinking as a kid that I couldn’t wait for the commercials to stfu on the real radio, but GTA’s commercials were so layered and funny it was cool.

There’s also the fact that a good selection could even make you leave your genre comfort zone.

I’m not looking forward to Post Malone and Megan the Stallion screeching. The radio will age like gumbo just a few months in if that’s it.
