Not sure about that, but I do know for a fact they removed some random "transphobic doll" that made fun of trannies. It's still there on 7th gen releases but it's gone from the PC and next gen ports.

Basically for TLDR they made it so drag queens and “other harmful stereotypes” wouldn’t spawn in the open world, but would still be available in the director mode, albeit with any lines referring to their gender being removed. The article also brings up the tranny doll, but again I could’ve sworn one of the “negative stereotypes” removed was roid raging women, for the sole reason being trannies thought they were supposed to be just buff troons, and not a joke on ugly looking women body builders.

The VI trailer had obese black girls twerking on the tops of cars going down the highway, which is a way more on-the-nose stereotype than anything I can recall in V.

That's not even a "stereotype," that actually happened. Even so, GTA VI will be outdated based on current events.

I'm sure a lot of developers sighed a breath of relief upon finally hearing a release date.

Let's speculate on why they delayed it to next year and announced it now. The Trump tariffs? Wanting to rewrite the story? More time to milk GTA Online now that it's on Game Pass?

Remember that Nintendo and Xbox set the standard now for increasing game prices from $70 to $80. Take Two was the first to hike game prices to $70 with NBA 2K21. It's been a year since any official news about GTA VI and now we have to wait longer.

I found the tongue in cheek writing from IV to be consistent with Niko's cynicism with America. Almost like you are viewing America from HIS perspective. I will say that Niko's cynicism is too on the nose, which I talked about it. Think about it, the cheeky satire comes more from Liberty City and its brands than the main characters itself. Maybe the overarching deconstruction of the American Dream, but that's a stretch.

Yeah I've heard that counter-argument before and that makes sense. I guess I just would've preferred it to be a little bit more subdued if that's the case.

Another theory is that they don't want to cannibalize their own release pipeline from 2024. T2 has Borderlands 4, Mafia: The Old Country and the next NBA 2K coming out months within each other. Correct me if I'm wrong but many AAA games don't release in the spring/summer months.

I think GTA IV came out in April of 2008. Perhaps it's a little of column A, column B. If there's no PC launch then either, they'll have to wait until 2027.

Most big games aim for either March (right before the end of the fiscal year) or November (the "holiday season" but still early enough to be considered for end of year awards). Rockstar buck the trend because they have no competition. They could be competing with a new Call of Duty game and they'll still be guaranteed to be a bestseller. Historically, they would release spring/summer (Max Payne 3 in May 2012, LA Noire in May 2011, Red Dead Redemption in May 2010, GTA IV in April 2008 ) but that's well over a decade now. Really, I think they just have the mindset of "when it's done."

I doubt they care, 5 ran like absolute dogshit on the 360/PS3 and it just gave them more of an excuse to re-release the game when the next console generation dropped, twice.

Most likely they’ve done a CdProjekt and the game has been in development hell for 12 years, which means it’s a total shit show. I think R* c-suite people know they’re turbo fucked and are trying to buy time to weasel out.

I think the final product will probably hold up against gta San Andreas about as well as the saints row reboot holds up against saints row 2, and everyone who isn’t a complete shill knows it.
