I've beaten San Andreas and V (I haven't played any of the others).
I want to pick up another GTA game, what would you say is your rec?

IV, and TLAD if you want shorter form GTA content. VC is also really good but I never finished it.

There was a "special edition" of GTA III exclusive to Australia before it had to be rerated.
Take Two released GTA III to Australia without approval from Australia's rating board in 2001, then it had to be pulled and re-rated to comply with Australia's decency laws.

You could not solicit "ladies of the night" in Australian versions on account of "sexual violence." They were fine with the blood, violence and money pickups unlike Germany or France, so that's something.

Idea: GTA 7 is London 2.
You get two characters, one White, one Pakistani, the White is the hard mode (any crime gives you 6 stars) while the paki only gets stars if he hits a synagogue

.

Not just that, that dev console was at a flea market, sold for $6. Just think about it: a company as secretive as Rockstar Games, one of their dev consoles with invaluable information is sold off for SIX DOLLARS. Diamond in the rough.

I remember ferries being in LCS, but that was practically a cutscene.

Speaking of GTA IV, IV has the best music selection as a collective whole in the whole series yet. Reggae, techno, club music, local bands, contemporary R&B, all of it blends well with R*'s NYC expy.

idea for 7 when that comes out in thirty years: either a chicago like, a new orleans like (they already did this with saint denis and coppermouth from manhunt is canonically a part of the gta universe), or new city on the border between mexico and not texas (we can call it lone star)

I hope when GTA 6 finally releases, all the clickbait content leading up to GTA 6 just dies. Or worst case scenario, when we DO look back on it, that content will just overshadow actual content.

They'll just make more clickbait garbo, this time "POSSIBLE NEW DLC LEAKS??? STORY DLC??? GTA ONLINE 2 NEW STUFF COMING SOON LEAK?" etc.

I would suggest LCS next since that game takes place after SA and it has better gameplay/controls than III/VC. I believe it's one of the easier GTA entries since there aren't many hindering gameplay gimmicks.

Honestly, I was very unlucky with the radio on that game because the same 4 songs would play every time I got in a car. No matter the station.
Doesn't help that my favorite genre is rock, and by the time I got to play, they had removed multiple songs (like Heaven and Hell), so the rock station felt like they only played 2 songs
I "fixed" by just putting the songs I wanted back on the custom radio

I am just unlucky with the soundtrack, in Vice City, despite pretty much playing V-Rock nonstop, I never got two of the songs (She Sells Sanctuary and Peace Sells) to play on game. In San Andreas, Them Bones and Cult of Personality played way more than anything else from Radio X

I've been playing GTA IV recently and to my surprise, something I didn't notice way back when I first played it, is that it even has Death/Black Metal (LCHC Station). Although I checked and it's only for the DLC. Was a very pleasant surprise for me. But overall yeah the music selection in that game as a whole was excellent, probably why I never found the metal station the first time I played the DLC because I grew a liking to other stations so quickly.

I think the best thing on the radio in 5 is that it shows the name of the music that is playing, it is a small thing, but as a kid, not knowing the name of the songs was weird, as I didn't have easy internet access to look up.

For 3, I was thinking of getting a key, like I did for Max Payne 1. The only problem I have is my goldfish memory, meaning lacking a map will be painful.

Speaking of non-GTA games by Rockstar, is The Warriors any good?

It is a good beat 'em up. The fanbase would have you believe it is a timeless classic, but it is very much a product of its time (late 70's IP notwithstanding).
The movie is fine thought.
It's an actual remake of a older movie about Spartans, hence The Warriors.

Same situation ocurred with Scarface, which is a 80's remake of the OG from 1933.

If you can get a second player The Warriors is the most fun multiplayer brawler there's ever been and you can co-op mode the entire story. Using that running dive attack to barrel in to the group of enemies wailing on your teammate never gets old. It's pure chaos, legitimately one of the most fun multiplayer fighting games on PS2 that isnt the conventional kind like Tekken and Street Fighter. ("Brawling game" feels more appropriate).

Edit: I can speak from experience, even today just give any guy friend that second controller, boot up The Warriors and they will never not have fun.

That is true. But even Dying Light is a blast in multiplayer, and that game is the definition of mid.

Hey a mid PS2 game beats a mid 6th gen and beyond game any day, just because there was still plenty of experimentation happening. You won't find another game like The Warriors. There are many games like Dying Light.

The warriors is fucking great. The beginning hour or 2 has nothing to do with the film, you're just a gang in coney island, beating up other dudes, robbing people, participating in riots, then you get into the story. Then there are stories of how each member came to become a Warrior.
As far as rockstar "bonus" games go, The Warriors is the absolute fucking best.
Don't take it from me, take it from this delightful zoomer.

ETA: As I'm typing this I'm downloading The Warriors on my PS5, I remember on the PS4 I had some buggy issues with it the color was fucked up like nothing was the right color, apparently they could be fixed but I didn't get around to it.

It was my favorite fucking game when I was 12. Let's see how much I love it in my 30s.
