If true, thank fucking God. That shit was annoying and misleading.

I never liked using cheats in GTA.
I never used them when I was actually trying to do missions because it defeated the purpose, there's no actual challenge left, but just for fucking around in the sandbox? It was a good time, trying to escape the city when everyone has an RPG or a mini-gun with apocalyptic plumes of black smoke everywhere. It's too bad they never made some sort of 'zombie mode' cheat, shit would have been fun too. Of course there are mods for that, but my PC at the time was a shitbox so I couldn't play GTA on it, BF1942 and Unreal Tournament were about as graphically intense as I could get and they still stuttered like a motherfucker.

Ran through the campaign in GTA V for the 3rd time, few observations:

-Music overall is incredibly mediocre. It feels less like listening to the radio but rather a selection of songs slapped together in playlists. Space 103.2 with Bootsy is great though and is more reminiscent of a traditional GTA radio station. Still not VC or SA tier, but good.

-I like Franklin but he has 0 character flaws. Oh, he was a gangbanger in a past life who was just doing what he had to do to survive? All is forgiven? Michael is a terrible father and husband, with a sordid past to say the least. You can sympathize with him but they always paint him as this angry and irredeemable middle aged huwite man. Trevor is just a sadistic psychopaths. That's about it. Was this the early stages of what we came to see in video games in the years after the fact?

-There was plenty of insensitivity littered throughout the game so maybe not. The words tranny and faggot were on full display, and not in a "let's tip toe around this as to not be istphobes" sort of way either. That action figure of a hairy man in women's clothing in Lester's house. Trevor speaking in a stereotypical Chinaman voice to Chinese people. Trevor also speaking ebonics in a sarcastic manner to blacks. Liberals and Conservatives both taking digs on the radio. This is what GTA should be, satire where all sides get it.

-I take back what I said about driving some pages back. Driving boats is awful. Cars actively try to hit you by taking sharp turns into your lane when they have no reason or need to. Some cars feel too agile and hard to control, some feel too clunky and slow, and very few cars handle just right. Franklin's car is probably one of the better handling in the game, and I'm sure his driving skills help but they can't make that big of a difference.

-Cops are a pain but not impossible to deal with. Get some distance, go hide in a bush or down an alley way and you should be alright.

-Maybe my biggest complaint: the pay structure is dogshit. A piss take. You get very little money up until the final heist. But at that point, what is the point? The selection of cars is anemic, properties are boring. Nothing to buy apartment/house wise. All of these cool and fleshed out ideas all went to GTAO. Single player GTA got nothing except cars from I think the first few big updates years ago, like Ill Gotten Gains.

I think I may have overrated GTA V, being such a massive fan of the franchise. San Andreas being my favorite game of all-time. So much so that I ordered the physical collector's edition (only game I've ever done that for), put up black out curtains and finished the game in 2 days. So the day after release. Back then I would have probably gave it a 10/10 or a 9.5/10, but playing it again all these years later, I'm more inclined to put it in the 8.5/10, 8/10 region. The game hits some high notes, but never quite as high as the ones hit in Vice City or San Andreas. Rockstar left allot to be desired and I feel the game should have, and could have been so much more.

I would think that's them overcorrecting the abundance of ill-gotten funds from GTA IV but nothing to buy but weapons and clothes.

It does the job. Them adding more music to the PS4/XB1 ports and later updates did help a bit.

How can you make the game more compatible if the next gen hardware utilizes the same architecture?
I don't think that's how that works. I'm sure they did not have the dev kits for the PS4/XB1 when GTA V was originally in development. The eighth generation of consoles were running on Jaguar x86 CPUs, which were standardized akin to gaming PCs.

the pay structure is dogshit.
The money in the GTA games in general is not well implemented, imo, in 4 the only thing there is to spend is clothes (which don't matter if you don't do the dating) and weapons, which are the only thing I really spent.

In III and VC money is more like points in arcade games, where you gather a ton, but outside of a few missions, having one million in your pocket doesn't mean much. I didn't use any glitch for money or the side missions in VC and still got a ton of money from just playing as you are supposed to.

The three most prominent modding communities for me are from Morrowind/Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. However, I believe the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas community is particularly notable for their ability to quickly develop and release comprehensive, high-quality mods. This dude didn’t become a meme more than a week ago.

You can mostly blame music licensing fees becoming obscenely expensive in the present day.

Another thing is if you noticed a majority of the contemporary music in GTA 3 was literally fake pop songs they commissioned for a few hundred dollars each since they didn't even have the money to afford real music.

But then the blockbuster success of GTA 3 not onlygave them the money to pay for music licensing which was far more affordable in the early 2000s, both games were set over 10 years in the past at the time they were developed so they already knew what were the undisputed hits and iconic songs of that time period so that's why their soundtracks were so good.

That said I was in southern California the past 3 months and I recognized alot of the songs from the GTA 5 soundtrack being played on the radio and in stores despite the game being released over a decade ago. Like One Way - Cutie Pie jumped out at me at a lowrider car show in LA.

I know GTA 1 and 2 had curated music like GTA 3's Head Radio and Lips 106. I actually liked the in-universe music. It gives the world its own life. Now, in retrospect, it helps with circumventing DMCA takedowns when uploading gameplay on YouTube,

Im not sure if this is right place for this one but it from a GTA streamer yeah Ben is just coping over slurs with the developer.
Not to be THAT guy, but this caught my attention:

Isn't it a factual statement that completing the burglary side mission in San Andreas would grant CJ infinite stamina/sprint? On top of the paramedic/firefighter/vigilante bonuses, sounds like CJ is canonically the most powerful final form protagonist in GTA history. So much for racism.

After you rob 20k in Bulgary in San Andreas you get infinite sprint without getting tired.
