"1 hit point Claude" is another fun mod.

I imagine all of us would have 1 hit point after being alone with Catalina.
OHKO (one hit knock out). Definitely makes 3D GTA much harder. No armor either. I love watching speedruns of OHKO. Seeing how they get around with that limitation is impeccable.

Catalina is a crazy bitch.

This is the future they chose by accepting all these long ass development cycles.
I absolutely blame this long wait on Rockstar coasting on GTA Online. Even if people argue that Red Dead Redemption 2 took a ton of manpower, that's still three years ago, and the latest rumors are pointing VI out for 2024-25. Taking RDR2's impact at face value, 6-7 years for their next game is asinine for a company of their size and resources.

The Elder Scrolls VI being set to release 14 years after Skyrim is also ridiculous, and people can poke fun of all its rereleases, but Bethesda hasn't been relying on it alone. They've been busy with Fallout, making their first new IP in decades, and have been working on upgrading their engine.

Three games will have been made by the time TES VI comes out compared to one game since GTA V.

Were it not for Shark Cards, I honestly think we would've had GTA VI by now.

Rockstar's crunch philosophy came to light with RDR2's "100-hour work week" comment. Before that, it was Midnight Club: Los Angeles. Now imagine working all those hours on a cohesive single player experience, only to have it diluted for online monetization.

Had it wasn't for GTA Online, I'd believe that R* wanted to dial back on its scope with back to back titles to prevent strain. Or at least public outcry.

Look at this chart. R* took risks in the sixth generation with titles spanning multiple genres and experiences over a five year period. You could argue that the advancements of technology made it longer to provide high quality titles. But I think with GTA V, they have turned compliant with their IPs and fanfare.

Another Bully, another Manhunt, AGENT, hell even GTA V single player DLC could've been possible.

There's been nothing high quality with the advancement in technology or longer development times though. Games in general are buggier and shorter than ever.
Speaking about R*, the leap from the sixth generation to the seventh generation was a massive one. The Renderware engine that powered several R* titles at the time was being bought by EA. So R* had to start from scratch with new technology.

They faced limitations with the then new hardware while still figuring out those consoles. Table Tennis was a tech demo to test the waters. GTA IV put RAGE to the test. Also, game companies then didn't want to TAKE risks with IPs because of development costs.

Survival Maps?

What the fuck is going on over at Rockstar? First they bring back the Tron mode nobody played, and now new Survival maps are their big thing? Are people playing Survival again because it was all but abandoned when I played in 2018.
Great. MORE aimbot enemies for a mode that nobody will play after some time.

lmfao

People in the red dead thread mentioning how the A team is working on GTA Online while B team gets Red Dead.

Meanwhile, GTA Online just gets crappy Tron and Survivals lol
I can only hope that their lackluster output since RDR2's launch was due to them focusing on the current gen ports.

If they completely phone those in, and GTA VI's still in early development, I'd question their competence as a studio.

Probably some directive to keep GTA Online alive until they can finally push out GTA 6.

Honestly there has likely been no general plan for GTA Online for years now, with everything being produced and released piecemeal. I wouldn't even be surprised if the majority of recent releases were worked on by Rockstar's new Indian offices, with the other studios mostly providing the framework & general art/gameplay direction.

I have to ask, what exactly does the GTA V Expanded and Enhanced have to do to NOT be considered phoned in at this point?

Because PC has been getting griefed by Jetbikes at 4k 60+fps for the better part of 6 years now and it's not that great tbqh.
4K 60FPS for consoles (and maybe higher FPS modes), general graphical enhancements to put it on par with Red Dead, Online vehicles/weapons integrated into the campaign, and new content would be my hopes after this long of a wait. The first two are likely (barring the possibility of them half-assing the ports), but the latter two are in the air given Rockstar's attitude towards the campaign.

Seeing as they're going to charge us for this port, and maybe even make it $70, they're going to have to impress me.

Upgrade every single texture from 2013 that they never bothered to for the Enhanced version.
Make AI the same as it is in Single Player.
Those are the two that bothered me the most, to be honest.

survival map patch because i guess the people that kept farming grove street survival got bored or something?
better yet the solo survial farming maps too...

QUOI? the AI post patch 1.47 started having terminator accuracy on single player as well. AI having a accuracy of 50 is something that online ported into SP, not the other way around. this enhanced edition seems to tease that their accuracy will be back to pre-online levels and it's bullshit, trying to get the "don't get shot" on singleplayer checkmark on the lastest version is extremely hard.
