Their ideas in this regard have been rather circumscribed recently. Even if Citizens United is garbage, it isn't going away, and there's also McConnell v. FEC and just shit-tons of others that say the FEC really doesn't have much power at this point. So it can define shit in nearly any way it likes, but it's pretty likely to be overruled in any real challenge.

Republican operatives used a company called Fusion GPS to actually meet with the Russians to get dirt on Trump. When he kicked all their asses in the primaries, a Democratic operative paid Fusion GPS to continue the dirt digging. It was likely someone from the DNC or a Hillary benefactor.

Both the RNC and DNC went to the Russians before Donnie Jr. or Jared Kushner did. There's no spinning this. They'll all go down together, or nothing at all will happen since everyone was involved.


“We have learned from both our own investigation and public reports that the participants in the meeting misrepresented who they were and who they worked for,” Mark Corallo, a spokesman for President Trump’s legal team, said on Saturday, just after The New York Times reported that the meeting took place.

Corallo pointed out that Veselnitskaya is associated with Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm behind an anti-Trump dossier compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele. Fusion GPS was paid by a Democratic ally of Hillary Clinton’s to conduct the research.
