midway through. the last time i had your problem josh forgot the rumble key or whaterver and didnt start the rumble stream.

Yeah, if you start midway through grayjay has updated it to live, but if you try to start it right as the stream starts you'll be met with IM AN AGE OLD AUTISTIC MAN over and over despite refreshing the feed, reloading the page, force stopping and restarting the app, its to the point where I am back to using telegram to watch

There's a very real chance it's just me and I am some kind of magnet for entropy that causes everything around me to experience hardship and break down and no longer function properly so I wouldn't be surprised if it works fine for everyone else

For youtube, I'd say it's probably more convenient and closer to the experience of the app, plus the added benefit of watching other services like odysee in the same app. Newpipe is still my go-to for downloading videos not-in-bulk thoughever

Tried it out for like a minute during a work break. UI seems to look modern and cleaner but not sure about how private the app itself is. Picture in Picture mode is ass though. Newpipe does it so much better as it doesn't use the native android shit that's barely resizeable. Will give it another shot after work.

Still better than Rumble app PiP that only works for me if I press the home button to switch to a different app. Rumble app also likes to stop buffering streams if my screen goes off so it'll stop playing once the buffer is gone.

That's crazy, this time for whatever reason our champion Louis Rossmann decided to smile upon me and it loaded right within 30 seconds. I did uninstall and reinstall the app and all source plugins so that might be part of it

I'll care about Grayjay when there's an x86 desktop version. But it might be interesting to buy a cheap Chinese Android TV box just to put it on.

If you set up Windows Subsystem for Android, you could theoretically use it that way.

I've just installed GrayJay on my new phone. I like it a lot. It feels more polished than NewPipe or its forks, and it was easy to export my subscriptions from BraveNewPipe.
Just a couple of minor annoyances... the first one is how downloaded audio and video must be played in the GrayJay up unless you export the files. I'm used to using VLC for watching downloaded audio and video, and it's also a tad annoying being forced to take an extra step when downloading stuff for archival purposes.
The much bigger annoyance is that even if you disable the Home tab, GrayJay will still show it to you if you press the back button on the bottom of the phone. I use the back button a lot, and the audiovisual goyslop on the YT Home tab makes me stabby, so this kind of pisses me off.
Another consideration is lack of SponsorBlock support in GrayJay. I'm not fussed, but I completely understand why SponsorBlock is important to some users.
Other than that, GrayJay is pretty good. I bought a license to encourage FUTO and the GrayJay team to keep doing what they're doing. Even if I end up going back to BraveNewPipe eventually, I won't feel like I've wasted my money.

It has SponsorBlock it's just disabled by default, you have to go enable it.
My Revanced app quit working right and I'm kinda nervous about updating it again because I can't remember where I got it so it's just a little too much risk now. Thus I've been using Grayjay more.
I like subscription groups but I don't like that it only imports subs from YT instead of a sync. So if I unsub from a channel from my computer, it doesn't unsub in Grayjay even if I import again, I have to go do it manually.
They also need to work on the other site plugins more. YT seems to be the only one live streams work with. They will show up for Odysee but they don't work and I never even see live streams for Rumble. The Kick plugin seems to have completely broken and it's been broken for a while.
There's also one channel I unsubbed from both from my computer and in Grayjay, but I'm still seeing new videos from it show up in my subs feed in Grayjay so something is broken there.

rumble and twitch have stopped showing up on the subscription page for me as well. MATI never shows up now.

What are some things you don't like about the app or wish they would change?
- My number one thing is to have a Sponsorblock implementation like the one in YouTube revanced. I want to choose what type of segments get blocked, and ideally also contribute.
- When I watch streams I sometimes have to open them multiple times until they start playing
- Sometimes, if the video has to buffer for to long, it breaks and I have to close the video and open it again through the history tab.
- When I leave the app and have the pop-out window on screen, I'd like to have the ability to close the window, but keep the audio.
Otherwise I really like the app, don't get me wrong. I especially love the download feature. It makes archiving stuff so much easier and convenient.

Rumble support on BraveNewPipe is pretty janky too, so I think it's a Rumble problem. For example, it's impossible to download a Rumble video as audio only on either GrayJay or BNP.
