When I think of specifically an internet grifter, I don't think of a swindler, or con artist. I think of someone who constantly equivocates and changes their opinion purely for money or popularity, a hypocrite. Not necessarily someone who takes money or is popular for their beliefs, but someone who does so without integrity and honesty. While I disagree with socialists or wingnats, I have respect for someone who is firm in their conviction and tries their best to live accordingly. Its not accepting money that's bad in and of itself, it's doing so and being a hypocrite.

Good idea for a board theme. I think Jesse Singal Derangement Syndrome could be moved here. It's currently in Stinkditch, since Jesse makes troons mad, but his podcast Blocked and Reported covers a wider range of culture war topics and pretty much fits all the criteria.

Also, I think "western" should be capitalized in the board description ("The fate of Western civilization will be decided by the e-daddy with the largest Patreon"), since it's the ideological West, not the geographical west.

While BAR does cover more topics than just trans stuff, the very overwhelming majority of people with JSDS are trannies enraged that Jesse won't bend the knee to every pillar of troonism and does actual journalism by digging into and disproving their claims.

Agree on the Western thing, I wouldn’t call Singal a grifter though. He reports on the content creators, rather than being one himself. It’s a bit of a fine line but if you’re going to call a purely subscription based investigative journalism show a grift, you’d certainly have to say that about MATI, which is dono based and deals in opinion and conjecture a lot more.
I think we can say both are meta enough to avoid the tag.

Well I think youtubers like Mat pat, or linus tech tips don't really belong here considering that they're not really involved in the cultrue war so it makes sinse for threads like those to stay in IF

Still not really clear about the assignment of threads between Grift Wars and Internet Famous, which is described to include "online personalities, livestreamers, 'Internet Bloodsports'". Seems like it really just comes down to the subject's participation in "culture wars" and similar political content, in which case perhaps the description of Internet Famous needs to remove the mention of "Internet Bloodsports".
