Let's not forget that they made the fat American a groomer.
A Federal agent mind the fact...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Bridget's story end in Accent Core with him believing that he's proven himself and dispelled the whole omen thing, then retiring from bounty hunting to pursue other things? I know fighting game stories are held together by duct tape and gum, but not only would this retcon story completely piss away his happy ending, it's asking me to believe that he's spent the last however many years living with some kind of dysphoria, which is not only unearned, but also completely at odds with how his arc ended.

The most hypocritical thing about it is no they have "ghei representation". Sure you have Venom, and Testament who is a Gear by nature, so its a given, but sure, go after the confused kid that was forced into it.
Honestly it's not like the issue here is "trans character" for a lot of people. It's who they picked to be that trans character. They picked the one character whose backstory is undermined by this change and sets a horrible message, ultimately associating transexuality with grooming.

A new character would have been a better choice. But scoring points isn't about making anything new, it's about taking a popular thing and changing it in an attempt to "steal away" those fans.

The problem I have with the main counter argument is "There are no such things as bad endings in Strive". As if people who played (but actually didn't play the game) completely forgot about Jack O's arcade ladder where if you do anything but a non-flawless run you get 2 Jack Os which isn't an actual thing in lore. The first fight was metaphorical her vs her psyche fight.
If we believe the woke mob and every ending is canon I guess Nago really did get the shit kicked out of him by Jack O and her Pysche.

Is -STRIVE- actually worth a shit? I stopped playing Xrd after they not only asked me to pay $20 for an update patch, but also $7 for a character who's been in the series since GGX(GG if you want to argue it that way), and everything I've been reading about it makes it seem like a hot mess, and now they're doing my boy Bridget dirty. Seems like Daisuke's gone off his rocker these days.
If you want to get into fighting games, it's the game to go for, hate it or love it. Maybe SF6 will shake things up, but Strive is the biggest name in the 2D space right now. Population is big, crossplay is coming, netcode is great, it's much less autistic than other anime games. If you care about that stuff, the technical aspects are stunning, great soundtrack, immaculate animations, graphics, artstyle, it's all there really.
On the other hand, Strive is why gatekeeping should honestly be a thing though, watch yourself out there when looking for people to train with and stuff, you will run into crazy trannies and freaks like Hotashi.
The game's detractors say it's been dumbed down a lot and there isn't really much in the way of player expression and unique playstyles, there's only 1 right way to play a character in comparison to wilder games like +R where you can identify players by their playstyle. Balancing has been iffy over the last few months, but I didn't look at it at EVO or in the patches before that.
I personally didn't stick to the game, there's cooler stuff out there honestly.

This game has been bleeding players since it's inception, only to gain a few when certain characters are announced.

Baiken in December
Testament in March
And now Bridget

This game since it's release was surrounded with nothing but controversy regarding questionable choices that were made. Whoever in this team still believes that pandering to the woke is going to save this game when it's been the slow death of it this entire time needs to be axed out of it because outside of virtue-signalers that immediately support anything tranny-related for good boi points, they are completely fucked.
Literally 99% of games' numbers look like this, and especially for a fighting game, these numbers are nothing short of stellar. Call it Soive, Jive or whatever, it's doing extremely well.

These are the 12 most played games (I know, >FGcharts). Fighting Games are a niche genre and no pandering, no "we're going for the wider audience" will fix that. Of course you can argue that the market favors Strive at the moment, DBFZ and SF5 are in their swan song (although DBFZ got rollback announced), MK11 is widely disliked (and MK lives off its casual audience anyway (lol le epic violence)) and the other games are too old/autistic/French, but the numbers don't lie and are quite convincing nonetheless.
Fighting Game devs are also often retards who seemingly hate making money, look at how Samurai Shodown, widely agreed to be amazing and hype from a gameplay perspective, completely died thanks to SNK's outlandishly stupid release plan and horrendous netcode or KOF's terrible matchmaking issues. At least the coof was somewhat of a wake-up call and many devs are retroactively planning to patch in rollback netcode. Some "b-but the devs dumbed it down, it's a shit boring game" is a literal non-issue in this particular space.

Also /vpol/ got shit done and did this. In honor of YWNBAW, one of the world's best Ky players, who notably streamsniped Hotashi, who finished top 8 or something this EVO.

I'd honestly rather just play more +R or even Xrd -SIGN-. I'm sure -STRIVE- is a fun game, but this whole mess just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I'd rather take my money elsewhere.
Same. Faggots like Sonicfox cosigning Bridget as being a female and celebrating it as some sort of moral victory was the last straw for me. If I'm going to play GG again, I'll just play a better version of the series, Rev 2.
