Guilty Gear Strive

I enjoy the character's gameplay. The character is adorable. That's where it stops for me.

I've accepted a while ago that some of the franchises I enjoy trooned out, either because the developer feels it's the right thing to do, it's the power play to make, or because they get co-opted by troon actors they hired.

I don't follow Twitter discourse much. I feel it was especially obnoxious for this. The entire train of people boldly shouting "Trans Rights!" with Bridget pictures. Rights for what? It is almost like a mantra without purpose. Do troons have rights now because Bridget is a trans character in Guilty Gear?

A lot of the people either shouting about it or seething about it just don't seem to play Strive at all. It's also just become a taboo touchy subject in local communities where a bunch of guys clearly don't like Bridget being trans if you poke them a bit about it. You got a bunch of these awkward autistic nerds, and outsiders are coming in to co-opt their hobby. They'll pretend they support until you push them a little bit.

There's the matter of discord and community jannies as well, they really want to show to everyone that they fucking love troons. Really looks good for them, and they get a power trip out of getting rid of people getting a bit too uppity. I think the move at this point is to just not interact with people in these places, it's all starting to become a bit reset-era-ish.

it really says something when the creator himself have to retcoon/change the lore to fit the narrative. Daisuke reminds of the kind of boomer that was outspoken, angsty and rebellious kind of guy in his teen/early adult life but as his gotten older, his losing his edge and just lost that spirit. now he only cares about is making money while keeping "everyone" happy so he can live the rest of his life in relative peace.

I remember the whole point of being a butch trucker didn't mean you weren't a woman and being a dainty boy that loved flowers didn't mean you weren't a man, good to see that the tranny panic has completely devoured that and we are back to the old logic, just that we are missing the "boy ain't right" step of the process and just proceed to dump hormones and chop dicks and tits.

Anywho... been a while since I dolphined my way into the stage, reading this sort of crap makes me groan about playing again (well that, and the shit loading times), the Testament thing was annoying enough but this is so much more. Also love how it fucking ruins Lewis with his love of grooming.

Xrd is getting rollback and Accent Core Plus R already has it. There is no reason to suffer with Strive any longer.

That's bullshit and I don't believe it. To begin with you didn't bring Bridget back because of "Good Timing". You brought them back because of popular demand. I can't imagine people will be excited for you to add anyone else if you're going to casually destroy the entire character to appease China and weirdos.

There's so much about this that makes me mad. The smugness of the troon brigade. The blatant lying about your intentions for the character. The fact that Bridget probably won't appear again. And that I can't even block Bridget as a keyword because everyone's calling them Brisket or whatever. Fuck it, I've earned my top hats, give it to me.

Is it too late to say that this game and the community completely burnt the franchise down to ground?
The developer is milking this for all its worth. From these interviews to posting on social media where the troons will jump to their defense and pump those engagement numbers.

Now we're having a handful of tranny weirdos posting about how fighting games give them anxiety in fighting game communities. Just fantastic.

Just in time to get their axewounds pushed in when they decide to pick up Xrd, even more fantastic

The fighting game community is weird so they'll fit right in. I've seen coping from boomers constantly in the past few months on the topic of having less time to dedicate to fighting games:

"Queer teenagers with unlimited time and access to discord and modern fg resources"

Imagine fighting mentally ill people at a games competition? What could possibly go wrong?

I do find weird all the attempts to try to get people into fighting games from websites like Polygon when their readerbase melts at any sort of gaming related challenge.

I love this retcon because it's some of this most obvious backpedaling I've ever seen and everyone who accepts it is willingly blind. If Bridget was intended to be trans from the beginning, why did it take around two decades to get any confirmation on his gender? Especially when you consider how XX Bridget went out of his way to fuck with everyone by blatantly establishing himself as a man to surprise people. Why didn't Daisuke give the trans community the validation back when it was less understood by the general population in the 90s? Wouldn't that have been more meaningful push for acceptance before everyone was slapping pronouns on their online profiles?

Even if they straight up said, "By the way, Bridget's a girl now" in the trailer, that would add some credence to the idea, but they released the character, announced the transition in the fucking arcade story mode of all places, waited a month+ before fully confirming it, and then finally said this was Bridget's intended story after it was established the backlash wouldn't be huge. How stunning and brave, Daisuke.

They should be thankful they have less time.

Nevermind the fact that they're fucking boomers, and should have more important shit to worry about, there's so much more competition now thanks to the internet than there used to be back in the 90's. On FightCade 2 alone, you have people on D rank that are playing like they are A-B rank, and part of it is because they see what the pros are doing and just emulate that (e.g. Street Fight Alpha 3 has been seeing more V-Ism Sakura thanks to Justin Wong and John Choi using her in ranked matches), which results in more same-y matches.

It's unfortunately not really a surprise to see people buy into this obvious lie about the conception of Bridget twenty years ago when you remember that rewriting history is a major component of transgenderism. The rewriting that says there was never a man named Bruce Jenner who competed in the Olympics men's decathlon, but rather a woman named Caitlyn. I also can't help but suspect that many of those who latch onto tranny Bridget now weren't even yet born with Guilty Gear X2 came out, or were otherwise oblivious of this niche fighting game besides possibly the "everyone is gay for Bridget" meme.

For posterity:

There's more than one instance of this as well as talking about the backstory and character motivation. You can just play the old games technically to get the story but like twitter and some YT comment people will fucking hound anyone that cals bridget a "he" with a tirade about how it was always intended and how "weird" and "immature" and"transphobic" the person that called him a he was and how "she wasn't groomed that never happened her parents just loved her!" intentionally ignoring that there's more types of grooming than just sexual.
People need to archive all the fucking statements by the creators that act like current year retcon shit was always the intended path.

I just fucking remembered that fourth wall break clip from one of the matrix games where the wachowskis literally explain to the viewer the themes and meanings behind the matrix before going "but haha this is a video game so that'd be boring" IIRC the one that "confirmed" the trans allegory theory shit clickbait rags kept spewing despite them denying it a few years priotand gets really mad at people for using redpill memes on twitter was the one that literally does the wacky sped up explanation thing in it. These kind of clearly genuine thought-induced statements from the times before corporate politics hell in general must remain available to those who seek the truth.

Fuck this fake ass "wholesome rep win" shit give people an actual trans character. I don't even mean this in the fucking "oh why retcon one when you can make another" the twitter guys have now been trying to use as an own against people that point out half assed retcons like this, I mean actually make a fucking character that falls under the "trans" umbrella that's a character first and foremost and not just a fucking "trans self discovery!!" plotline that results in them just becoming "the trans one"in a manner similar to how some gay characters just become "the gay one" after becoming gay. of course, making an actual character isn't what these kinds of clout motivated shit stirrers want. They just want to turn established characters or themes int "THEY'RE TRAAAAAAANS!!" because that somehow is a human rights "win" and allegedly stops depressed transpeople who got shit in life way more fucked than vidya from killing themselves? I know this has all been talked about before ad nauseum so I'm gonna cut it off here but like it's really fucked how for a lot of games you literally have to go back like over a decade to find actual characters that happen to be trans in media instead of characters that are "the trans one" either retroactively or as their actual origin point.
