I don’t think it’s very far fetched to put it the other way, and it’s not really just a neocon thing. No living people remember the shots in Sarajevo and the vast majority of people aren’t interested enough in history to make it a reference point. 9/11 is still fresh enough, maybe not in memory for a lot of younger gens, but at least as a nebulous ”something that happened and changed everything”. I’m splitting hairs here, but I had to sperg a bit.
