guys, who of you had slave owning ancestors?

Most Murricans are Germans descended from those who didn't want to be conscripted for seven years of physical torment in Prussia's uniwar.
Not in my case. Prussia at the time my ancestors crossed the Atlantic was still Northeastern Germany, the complete opposite of where my ancestors originated from.

Ancestry from the British isles is still the majority in the United States. Most of the whites who simply check "American" when asked about ancestry are actually Scotch Irishman, Scottish protestants from the north of Ireland who came in droves to the US in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Majority of the slaveowners in the southern aristocracy were of Scotch Irish or English descent.

Pretty concise history of what im describing

Germanic ancestry is huge, but it hasn't quite overtaken British isles yet.

No, if anything they could actually have been slaves themselves. As far as I know, most of my ancestors were just Irish peasants who lived in a rural shack for most of their history. They lived that way up until the 20th century, but come to think of it, we're still relatively poor.

"WE WUZ DA TRU AMERICANS!"
Jesus, take this bullshit somewhere else, paddy! It's not true, it'll never be true, and no amount of coping and seething from you will change that you're a subhuman too. "Scots-Irish", AKA just Irish under a different label.
No offense to yer kinfolk, but this made me laugh so fucking hard.
None taken. I honestly thought it was funny to hear as a kid too.

I come from a long line of very poor farmers. We were to poor to afford slaves.

Dude, I'm not racist against the Irish either way even if they're south Irish Catholics, they're still northern Europeans. So I'm not insulted when you call me an Irishman or "paddy". Just pointing out that my particular branch of Irishmen are descended from Lowland Scot presbyterians from the north of Ireland and have been in the US longer than almost anybody aside from some people of English descent.
