Was amused by the roasting this guy's sob story (a) got today on HN:

I was just recently given 24 hours to pack whatever I could carry and leave my home after the landlord's daughter found out my real government name which I rarely use and found a newspaper article about where I was arrested on false charges 11 years ago. (I spent 10 years in jail awaiting trial and then the charges were dropped) Most of the newspapers completely removed all mentions of the case, bless them, but it's the Internet -- removing something from the Internet is like trying to take the pee out of a swimming pool. After asking how I was going to manage on the streets, homeless (it was -30*C at the time), he did come to his senses somewhat and get me a couple of week's grace which let me find somewhere else to stay.

Turns out he's a creepy pedo who the cops picked up in a catch-a-predator type sting and then discovered he had a house full of child porn too.

Not the first time this has happened on HN. There's another pedo who pops up every few months asking for help getting work, turns out he repeatedly flashed his wanger at young girls over a period of several years, got put on the sex offender registry, and that's why employers pop his resume straight in the trash. Though he always somehow forgets to mention that. Bizarrely (or maybe not) he still tends to get loads of sympathy and advice from HNers even when someone notices and points it out.

The best part is that the reply includes the pedophile’s name (Charles Bocock), location (Cook County, Illinois) and account name (qingcharles), as well as a description of his crimes (possession of child porn and offering to pay off someone’s car loan on the condition that they let him have sex with their 12-year-old niece). Since HN doesn’t let people delete posts, the comments in that thread will show up in searches forever.

It says in this document that you (Bocock, Charles) were charged with "CHILD PORN/POSS PHOTO/VIC <13":
https://www.cookcountysheriff.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02...
And this article also states that you were charged with soliciting a girl for sex and possessing child pornography:
https://www.shawlocal.com/2019/09/04/inmate-sues-because-he-...
"Bocock was arrested and jailed June 10, 2013, after he went to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Plainfield to meet with a 12-year-old girl for sex, according to court records."
And this article too:
https://patch.com/illinois/plainfield/brit-charged-child-sex...
"In exchange for the money, Bocock wanted a girl for sex, officials said, and preferred one between the ages of 7 and 11. [...] After Bocock was taken into custody, police searched his North Tripp Avenue home and found 'numerous' images of child pornography, a prosecutor said at a prior court hearing."
Also this one:
https://web.archive.org/web/20141106115016/http://patch.com/...
"Bocock allegedly responded to a Craigslist advertisement posted by a Plainfield resident trying to get money for his car payment. But in exchange for the money, Bocock wanted a girl for sex, officials said.
"The Plainfield resident went to the police and an investigator pretending to be the cash-strapped Craigslist poster continued the online conversation with Bocock, officials said. The investigator reportedly offered Bocock his 12-year-old niece for the car payment money, and a rendezvous was set up for Monday afternoon at a Dunkin' Donuts on Route 59."
And that you are currently on the Illinois child sex offender registry for this:
https://isp.illinois.gov/Sor/Details/X23A0424
What do you have to say about that?

The issue here is that qingcharles is lying.
He is a creepy pedo who tried to meetup with a 12 year old to have sex and is a registered sex offender.

Pedophiles don't actually exist. Every single one of them was framed, they were just drunkenly pissing and didn't notice the children in the playground.

Some choice whining about Kiwi Farms:
Interestingly, Wikipedia editors are aware that Wikipedia articles are used to find the current URL of sites that are forced to change URLs frequently due to legal or moral issues, and they face the same dilemma registrars and service providers face. So although it seems somewhat more resilient than search engine companies to demands from copyright holders, it's not uncensored, something to keep in mind if you're infrastructurizing it for that purpose.
Yeah for example 8chan and kiwifarms are usually censored. I'm not that mad about it, some censorship is always necessary (you don't want links to child porn), but it's weird that Wikipedia pretends there is no censorship. And it's kind of arbitrary.
Why is stormfront - an openly nazi forum (a really old one at that) - allowed, but kiwifarms - an anti-trans doxxing forum - isn't? It's both bad
Censorship of official links is against explicit Wikipedia policy[1], but it doesn't matter because every policy can be overridden by consensus. In practice this means that a handful of professional activists can (and do) censor it as they see fit, since they can determine for themselves whether such a "consensus" exists.
If you had actually read the thread you'd know that it's Wikipedia policy not to include links to sites containing content illegal in the US because that can actually get visitors in trouble. This isn't the cultural war you make it out to be, it's supposed to prevent Wikipedia readers from having their browser download child porn hosted by a notoriously undermoderated forum.

I'm still behind on some drama with Paul Graham. Keeping track of these fucking idiots is a full-time job.

So, here's a discussion where people acknowledge the Indian scourge, with plenty of Indians impotently trying to argue against the obvious:

Every Who is hiring thread has a section like this at the end of the last page, where dang cleans up the nasty criticism of those defenseless corporations:

It's an election year in the United States, so we can't let people read those nasty flagged comments anymore, even if they ask.

Let's end this with some dumbfuckery from Walter Bright slavishly supporting the status quo like the bootlicker he so clearly is, in a discussion about how insurance companies don't think they should ever have to lose money:

This summarizes so much Graham writing it's not even funny. To my surprise, even HN isn't buying it. (A)

If you are going to read hackernews, always read from the bottom. The best stuff sinks straight into the floor there. I started reading the Graham thing and the first thing that popped into my mind as he went on about the founders was, "What about their CIA funding?" .. and then I go to the very bottom and see I'm not alone. There's one person not in the circle jerk who gets it.

Man I wish IIFEs were cleaner in C# ((Func<T>)(() => { ... }))() is a bit much especially if T is anything verbose
