I think explaining whatever he is will actually ruin his character. The big mystery surrounding him is part of what makes him interesting.

If he was just a side character who didn't influence the plot much then I'd agree with you, but he has too much importance for him to just be handwaved away as an unsolvable mystery . He's the guy who put gordon in stasis, saved Alyx from black mesa, indirectly aided the rebellion, has had past dealings with Dr breen, and helped cause the resonance cascade(which is basically the most important event in the series). Plus, there was that whole thing with Eli and the borealis in episode 2.

I love a good mystery, but sooner or later I expect answers. I'm not saying we need his origin story, but I think we should at least get an explanation of his motives and goals.

not a big achievement when valve is making it in low numbers in their own factory because most companies got pissed having to deal with valve time.
also the price is ok for the HMD, makes sense for a low of vive owners to upgrade. meanwhile lighthouses and knuckles cost more than the fucking headset, clearly the way to go if you want the masses to adapt your tech and company use your tracking.

I bet it looks much shittier and clunkier in real life than is displayed in the trailer.

However, if there is one dev I think could probably make something good with VR it's probably Valve.

But getting into VR isn't expensive. Hell most VR headsets are getting cheaper, especially first gen ones. I got mine for 150 stat.

The lighthouses only works with the index and vive pro. I don’t think you really need the new lighthouses unless your vr room is the size of a fucking football field.

that's why I said most people will pick up the HMD as an upgrade, maybe the knuckles.

for anyone else the price is retarded, even if you're an "enthusiast" or an idiot, more importantly it won't make companies adopt lighthouse as a viable tracking tech (inside-out fucking sucks, not to mention putting cameras all over your room) nor make games that make full use of the knuckles - but hey, pinky tracking is certainly worth 300 bucks.

I don't blame most Half Life fans being upset about Alyx being VR exclusive. However, these are the same guys who would buy a RTX 2080ti, then whine about not being able to afford VR. For the price of a 2080/ti you can easily build a decent PC plus a Occulus Rift.

You know VR is used for hazardous/medical training, right? HP released a VR headset this year primarily for OSHA safety. VR is a 3 billion industry, you can use it for a lot of things.
