The space company that launched Gnome Chompski (famous Valve inside-joke) into space a few years ago has scheduled a new launch, at the same time as TGA, titled "RAISE and Shine".

Naturally, people took this to be a Half-Life reference, combining a reference to Raising the Bar and the famous Rise and Shine G-Man dialogue.

However, a Redditor emailed the company, and the Vice President of Marketing and Communications replied, denying any affiliations.

Delirium is at an all-time high right now. I can't really blame people too much, I'm on the hopium too.

Sad but I've already hopped off the hope train for the year, I really want it to be TGA, I really do, but I don't trust any of them to make the call, Valve included. I think all the dates really were canary traps, and we all know whos reasonable for that being the case.

Honestly I don't even know if I'd be mad. I think one of the few things more vindicating then HL3 coming out and being better than every single SP game released in the last 10 years just by nature of being HL2-tier would be Romero coming back and showing the kids he's still got it and they don't with a sequel to a crappy long forgotten FPS. Cue another 7 years of Romero ego-maxxing and then the cycle repeats with Daikatana 3. Bonus points if it's a remake of Daikatana.

I still haven't played Daikatana.

Oh yeah, I'm not arguing or advocating for Deadlock's quality, I tried it once a while ago and didn't really have a good time with it because I'm not a mobafag. I just disagree with the assessment that Valve continuing to work on Deadlock somehow means HLX isn't happening, despite leaks for HLX occurring in said game that is being claimed to be sucking away focus and devtime.

Also, the fact that the Valve devs in the official Deadlock Discord at the start of the year officially announced a slowing of updates.

It is still weird to me that Deadlock, of all fucking games, has the most active community-engaged Valve dev support and communication. This Yoshi main dev guy alone has thousands of messages in the Deadlock server actually engaging with random people. But I guess I also shouldn't be too shocked, this is the company whose CEO still replies to random fan emails actively to this day. It pretty often seems like the company as a whole handles communication like neurotic schizos - i.e. them announcing the Raising The Bar reprint for 2025 and there hasn't been a single update on it, yet we're in the last month of the year, for example.

Actually, I just checked his latest post in the Deadlock server and it's potentially relevant to us - this gives us insight into the rest of Valve this upcoming Winter Break.
