I love Halloween. We decorate, watch spooky movies, have parties, go to parties, give out candy, carve pumpkins...even toast the seeds (I hate pumpkin anything though-sans making Jacko'Lanterns)

Love pumpkin seeds. I got some new Carolina Reaper seasoning I want to try on them when I make them around Halloween. Found one place that sells pumpkins with tons of seeds.

I had to look up the Carolina Reaper. I usually just use the spices I have in the kitchen. My boys love them (pumpkin seeds) one loves hot and spicey so I usually sprinkle some with that too... gonna check out the Reaper a bit more. Thanks for that.

It's absolute fire, honestly, so I would be careful if you use it in anything. The Frutescens family of peppers that the Reaper is a part of have amazing flavor, though, and are so much better than the Annums. Scotch Bonnets in particular, those are my go-to pepper when cooking.

If you want a milder heat, you can use hot paprika mixed with smoked paprika. A really good flavor and one I use in chili.

I'm tempted to experiment with Pickapeppa sauce for these seeds.

Thank you so much! The milder version is probably the way I will go. Everyone likes "hot" but I dont think we are able to handle mega heat like that hahaha I have regular paprika and another one that is spicer, but going to check out the options you mentioned. I really appreciate it.

You're very welcome and I appreciate you inspiring me to try out Pickapeppa sauce as part of the recipe for these seeds as I thought through the idea.

I love growing peppers and I want to make sure people have a good experience with their fruit because they add so much to dishes when properly used. The paprika I use is the Pride of Szeged brand in the sweet smoked/hot varieties. Pricey but it's my favorite brand and a little goes a long way.

Put up the pumpkin lanterns and cheesy fake pumpkins. After powerwashing the porch, of course. Spooky movies will also be in order.
Poltergeist is the ultimate spooky movie for me. I don't like jumpscares or other frightening images in movies, there are maybe two in this one where the guy peels his face off and the clown but otherwise it's just strange, surreal horror. I'm not going to spoiler anything because the goddamn film came out 40 years ago.

I want to feel uneasy and think about the broader horror of the situation and Poltergeist really hits that spot.

Well, I made my avatar the only thing spookier than one skeleton.

But really, probably carve a pumpkin, have a fire on my back porch, and watch some classic horror films. I'm thinking Horror of Dracula to start off with. Can't go wrong with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee
