Sounds like a cultural variant of my spooky rig. Popcorn with melted butter and extra salt, Italian sub and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.I'm going to get some good food (Italian sub, onion rings, popcorn, and some Count Chocula), take the whole weekend off and have a marathon of some of my favorite movies for the season:
-Beetlejuice
-Ghostbusters
-Hocus Pocus
-It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
-Garfield Halloween special
-Creature From the Black Lagoon
-Hold That Ghost
-Dawn of the Dead, and 28 Days Later)
And maybe a Stephen King miniseries or two. Since Halloween is on a Monday this year, I'll do this the weekend before. I've also been wanting to watch The Frighteners, Dead Silence, and Jacob's Ladder, might finally go ahead and watch them this year.
Glad I could inspire some new ideas on recipesYou're very welcome and I appreciate you inspiring me to try out Pickapeppa sauce as part of the recipe for these seeds as I thought through the idea.
I love growing peppers and I want to make sure people have a good experience with their fruit because they add so much to dishes when properly used. The paprika I use is the Pride of Szeged brand in the sweet smoked/hot varieties. Pricey but it's my favorite brand and a little goes a long way.
Home-roasted pumpkin seeds kick ass. It sounds gross if you've only ever carved a pumpkin and discarded the seeds while they're cold and mushy, but give it a shot. That shit can be made really flavorful if you know what you're doing.Make sure to save the seeds and roast them for the kids.
Bitter banana peppers mean they were maturing in very dry conditions and have concentrated alkali compounds, which makes sense if they were at the end of the season...I would save these more bitter banana peppers though and use them in slow-cook dishes. I guess it's just a consequence of using a nightshade plant as a food source.Glad I could inspire some new ideas on recipesI just checked my paprika, it's the standard..checked online and I can get the brand you mentioned here local, so double plus. And peppers. Speaking of which, I just got the last (hopefully) of banana peppers in, they are a tad bitter though. Still not going to let them go to waste though. Another thing, I always do the seeds in the oven, wonder if the air fryer would be better?? I don't know
Yep. definately end of season. Thought I would save them for something that I will bake/crockpot, which is quite a bit, or on nachos. Half of the time I forget about that air fryer but seems like a good idea. Half or more then half the time saved using it too.Bitter banana peppers mean they were maturing in very dry conditions and have concentrated alkali compounds, which makes sense if they were at the end of the season...I would save these more bitter banana peppers though and use them in slow-cook dishes. I always cook the seeds in the oven but I may try out the air fryer now that you mention it.
Thinking about it some more, the air fryer seems like a solid option. One of the problems I have with traditional pumpkin seeds is the oil/butter involved, it seems to soak into the seeds...a good oil tastes just fine but I don't want a freight train of lipids when eating pumpkin seeds.Glad I could inspire some new ideas on recipesI just checked my paprika, it's the standard..checked online and I can get the brand you mentioned here local, so double plus. I'm authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS and Tax Court by virtue of my CPA license so you are in good hands here at the Kiwi Farms. Standard rates apply.Did I do this "spooky avatar" thing right? Taxes are pretty damn scary.,
