Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

Yeah, I'm a little bothered by it, too.

Frankly, her being so over-the-top evil just feels like a cop-out to me. She was already unlikable, but having her just straight-up admit to just being a shit to Stolas for the lulz felt unnecessary.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are talking about the woman who literally PUT A HIT OUT ON HER HUSBAND.

It comes down to a contingent of people hoping that the show would portray that Stella is not just a one-note bitch, evidenced that virtually every scene we had of Stella was after Stolas had cheated on her. Of course now we've seen that Stella has always been a bitch.
Its still possible down the line that we may find out Stella is also a victim of the typical "royalty" abuse and is more akin to Stolas, but as it stands that's not the case.

The cynic in me states that this characterization is just intended to make it easier to justify Stolas and Blitzo being a couple while Stolas was technically cheating on Stella.

I'm not against bitch Stella, but I hope she's just not a bitch for its own sake but has some characterization beyond being evil for the lulz.
This exactly. It just felt extremely lazy and as a means to further push Stolitz by showing that Stella was horrible to begin with, the classic fujo mindset.

Don't get me wrong, some characters being 100% evil is perfectly fine and I approve of that, but I know I and many others were hoping she'd at least have some reason for being the way she is to make things a little more interesting. The "Stolas is the victim, fuck Stella" narrative only got more ham-fisted in this episode.

Not a dealbreaker by any means, just the boring option IMO.

I do feel I'm in the minority here when I said I did not like this episode. (Besides the fact that this series is becoming more of a drama than a comedy which it's my fault for not seeing the obvious signs I guess?)
I can't tell if it's because I felt like it was pointless or what, but the whole childhood flashback was way too long. I don't like that Stolas and Blitzo met each other when they were children; it kind of ruins that aspect of their relationship of whether there is some sort of love to now being that they always had that special bond.
Stolas' dad not really being a dad was expected, though he wasn't much of an ass as I thought he would be so good job on surprising me. Yay.
Stella always being an abusive wife from the beginning was disappointing because I was hoping to see that they both had problems they brought to their relationship, and also contradicts what at least was hinted at in Season 1 Ep.2 but again...expected.
It just felt like this episode was made so the audience could be completely on Stolas' side and come off as the victim, instead of being a flawed, sympathetic character who made a mistake.

Ballsy choice to use actual child VAs for the flashback segments.

Anyway, never thought I'd feel sorry for Stolas, but here we are. Normally I'd consider cheating one of the worst things anyone can do, but it seems like Stolas didn't marry Stella by choice. And even if he did, she didn't keep up her end of the agreement. No, I'm actually more pissed at Blitzo now considering he selfishly took advantage of Stolas, and tried to make Stolas cheat with him (well, sort of...) for his own economic gain.

And when the hell did the O become silent!?

Those couple minutes when Blitzo was getting rough with Stolas, I'm pretty sure my neighbors thought I was watching gay porn.

I think that's another thing that bothered me; the affair scene itself. They are really pushing that Stolas is the victim in all this because:
1. He was humiliated at his "not divorced" anniversary party,
2. He was most likely drunk due to the scene of him chugging from that bottle,
3. Seeing Blitzo again and thinking he broke in to see him specifically, and
4. Blitzo being the one to do the advancing and initiating the affair (Plus, deceiving him so he could get the book.)
It almost feels like they want him to take no responsibility for his own actions and blame it all on other circumstances/people.
I hope that means though that the Stolitz ship won't happen since that relationship itself is also toxic, but I have been proven wrong before.

You guys can still be mad at him for deciding to cheat and acknowledge that he wasn’t completely at fault, you know.
I'm less mad that he decided to cheat and more mad that he essentially became such a wet blanket.
But then again, it's not like I came for the show to see horny demons have relationship issues; I came for the what I thought would be hilarious adventures of a demon assanation business-group.

This is somehow an even more dumb "YOU DREW ROSE TOO SKINNY!"
Honestly as much as i find Rebecca Suger to be annoying. I did love how she later had it reveal that rose was actually skinny as the pink diamond. As if it was a take that to the assholes who bullied that one girl who made the picture of Rose being skinny.

I'm not a fan of Stolas and Blitzo knowing each other as kids either, it's a fanfiction-tier cliché - especially since Stolas fell in love at first sight - that only got worsened by Stolas and Stella's arranged marriage and Stolas blatantly not wanting any part of it. Honestly my least favorite aspect of the episode. I was more interested in how Blitzo and Fizz were as kids and their relationship in general, but I guess that'll be coming later.

And frankly you're not wrong, this was very much a "feel bad for Stolas" episode. That's not to say I don't think it succeeded, because it did (at least for me), but I'd prefer if there was a teensy bit less bias to show him as multi-faceted rather than a straight-up victim.

Re: the kid actors: I wasn't expecting it, but they were surprisingly good.

It's shitty fujo writing when it boils down to it in all honesty.
Given that Vizzy is a tumblr girl, it's sadly not shocking that things went this route, even though I was holding out hope for it being different.

The "Stolitz" arc so far has checked all examples of "fujoshi writing" that was popular back when being a fujo was just fetishization and not the "gay rep" they hide behind.

Classic plot would include:

  1. Forced marriage to a (yuck) woman.
  2. Girl is a huge bitchy brat who absolutely hates Bottom's love interest, she is also abusive towards Bottom and has no character outside of "bitch"
  3. Top is a bad boy and Bottom is an upstanding citizen who gets corrupted by him
  4. Top often times has near rape-y scenes of talking Bottom into shit
  5. Childhood friends forced to separate
  6. Bottom is a "pure bean"
  7. Bottom gets turned into a sex crazed lunatic who begs for it thanks to Top
  8. Top is uncaring and only likes Bottom to purely mess with him because he knows he can
I'm sorry for referring to the guys in the relationship as bottom/top but that's how their personalities are always displayed and it's even in HB.

These all are popular tropes that were very prevalent back in the 201+ internet era and probably are still around today, they were classic fujo topics used in their story to make their "gay babies" be together and make any contesting ship character, mostly girls, seem to be a horrible person for no reason other than she got in the way of their ship.
There's definitely more tropes, but this is all I can really recall from my time accidentally stumbling into one of those brain numbing writings. I could have sworn there was a post on tumblr, Amino, or another site talking about shitty bl tropes, but sadly I can't find it now, but it's kinda concerning that the new Helluva Boss plot checked a good amount off within the first episode, turning a somewhat complex relationship into a tumblrgrade yaoi.

That’s fair. Could just meant to be a low point for him. He was essentially a horny teenager at the beginning because he was finally able to fill express himself after essentially being sexually repressed his whole life. Now he’s hitting the “oh damn, I can’t just be a sex crazed horndog all the time now…” point.

I’m willing to bet that flashback but with Blitz saying he’d hire Stolas to work for him is foreshadowing. If Stolas does get his rank and social status revoked, I could see him trying to get a job at IMP. And since he’s still have knowledge on interdimensional travel would give him a reason to be able to work there, while changing the relationship dynamics and all.

Also, I can’t really hate on Vizie for maybe/maybe not pushing the gay pairing when she has one of the few really positive depictions of a straight couple in media these days.

It’s also only one episode of the season. Season 1 had plenty of assassination hijinks.
