Do you believe that this series will turn to shit?

I genuinely think even her fans will start to think it's kinda fucked up that they took the most boring character in the main cast and randomly made her suicidal just to spice some things up and give a little gotcha to the critics. Oh what am I saying, they'll probably be calling it "brave" and shit for weeks.
I can already see the "inspirational meme" from here.

"The loneliest people are the kindest.(picture of Blitzo) The saddest people smile the brightest. (Millie) The most damaged people are the wisest. (Fizz/Loona/Stolas) All because they don't wish to see others suffer the way they do."

If true i expect the fandom to legit clap that millie is getting her well deserved focus and development (??) which was totally foreshadowed by the camp episode where she suddendly has self steem issues out of nowhere.

If this is an attempt to "own the critics" then i'm gonna be very dissappointed because it would not only prove viviene can't write depth beyond daddy issues and depression, she's also a hypocrite sperging about millie not needing angst to be compelling.

To be fair, these tweets are already dumb in hindsight since we know unhappy campers was really a moxie episode and only gave millie some light relationship angst anyway.

Even the history of violence doesn't make sense since don't all of the main characters have a history of violence in some way (Moxxie grew up with his mobster dad while Loona grew up bitter and resentful in an orphanage). Blitzo appears to be the exception although it was not revealed why he ended up in prison when Moxxie became his cellmate.

The sibling rivalry could have been intriguing only if Viviene with this based scenario. Millie, being the only daughter born in her family, has to prove herself that she could hang with her brothers and the other men of the community during the Harvest Moon Festival. When her older brother troons out, Millie becomes angry by the fact he already has a biological advantage and gets the attention when she had to work for it (like what's happening now with men claiming they're women and competing in female sports). Millie's ban from the festival games could also have been a factor, however that could have required some nuisance in the writing department.

The problem is this would require vivienne awknowledge biological differences between men and women, which would never happen since she made the most progressive hell on the universe. Millie's father blabs about how you need strenght to be a "real man", that "war makes a man" and Moxie is weak sensitive faggot but somehow he's completely fine with his son trooning out. Again, less like clever subversion and more like Viv trying to pander but also wanting to shit on moxie for laughs.

Milie is the worst by a huge margin cause it feels like the writers didnt put ANY THOUGHT into her beyond being moxie's love interest. Even her family feels like it was done backwards, like Vivienne saw people call millie "tomboy" and her new VA had an accent so she made Millie a country girl farmer with many brothers, and by giving her a trans sibling means "millie's brother rivalry" will never reach actual drama.

I actually agree with Vivienne that Milie shouldnt need angst to be cool, but you can tell millie is garbage when her creator has to use vague bullshit like "resourceful" and "excitable". If she is not going to get development then she should at least stand out as a protagonist who drives other characters, but until now she only orbits around moxie.

There are plenty of one note characters in the history of animation/cinema that are great precisely BECAUSE they have a purpose in the story or at least have strong chemistry with the other characters. The real problem with Millie is that she really doesn't have a purpose in any of the stories and has almost no chemistry with the characters, even her own husband. Meaning she could easily be removed without interrupting much of the plot or character dynamics in any significant way. Hell, the episode about meeting her family is mostly about the other main characters FFS.

Viv is just coping about making a bland nothing character and that people are questioning why she is on the main cast. If anything, I think Millie would be a stronger character as a once in a while guest character who doesn't work with Moxie as a co-worker. Sometimes less is more after all.

"a past of violence"
Motherfucker, the cast murders a whole beach in like, the third episode. They regularly kill people for money.
What does a violent past mean in this context? And she never really seemed particularly "resourceful" aside from that one time she killed a sea-monster.

I think she means traumatic violence that matters and wasn't done by or to insignificant NPC side characters. She killed seven people one afternoon but Sharkboy slapped her abusively that evening and scarred her for life.

If Digital Circus becomes a full series, which it probably will, It'll be interesting to see if Vivzi's stuff starts waning in viewership. People could still just watch both, but internet fandoms tend to hyper focus on the new thing.
Maybe she should get back to her core audience of utterly deranged people who want to see murder demons come up from Hell and kill humans! (*points at self*)

I've seen a lot of people ITT talking about the Sins not acting like actual evil demons would, so I wanna play devil's advocate for a second and present my own schizo theory on why that is the case.
So, we know that Sinners are segregated to the Pride Ring, and the other parts of Hell are populated by natives - Imps, Succubi, Hellhounds, etc. And because they're NOT sinners, the Sins (for the most part) do nothing to actually punish & torture them, since they haven't been sent to Hell with the express purpose of being punished; their only "sin" is being born in Hell.

Also, the new episode sucks, Striker is still best boy, total Vivzie death

Viv's thread where she desperately tried to defend Millie is still laughable. "It's because she doesn't have an angsty backstory!" No, Vivienne. She's just shit, flat as paper and contributes absolutely nothing to the plot.
I think I’ve said this before, but I’ll reiterate: having shallow characters wouldn't be a problem if the show is a comedy about demonic hitmen, and not some melodrama made by a fujo who hasn’t matured past being a high school tumblrista. Once you decide the show is gonna be a melodrama, people are going to expect some more depth in the main characters. So it becomes odd when one of the side characters gets WAY more attention than a character from the main trio.

Don’t like getting told how it is? Maybe melodrama isn’t your forte then you woman-child.

Even then, other shows that morph into melodrama actually take their time to get there. Adventure time and Regular Show had shitty romance drama and side character episodes but that was multiple seasons in. By the time you get a muscle man episode, you know him enough and by the time you get an episode focused on someone related to muscle man (like his girlfriend) you dont mind because muscle man IS a main character by that point.

Helluva on the other hand started season 2 with childhood crush and abusive wife drama. We have two back to back episodes focused on Fizz and ozzy relationship and still no Millie driven episode. Not only is it waaaay too early for this, it's all shit that only vaguely related to blitzo. I think people would at least give it a pass if was gradual and less frequent but at this point it's too late.

I saw the subreddit recently and there was athread saying unhappy campers is now the worst IMDB rated episode surpassing cherubs and most replies were half agreeing half not because "CHERUB was filler". You know it's joever when the only episode that does the pilot's premise is considered "filler" now.

I don't feel like it's a big deal that Millie is just along for the ride like Larry from the Three Stooges in every episode. It did occur to me, though, that she's kind of a tension drain that is bound to make everything boring. Her role every time she has something important to do is unmake the problem that is threatening Moxxie. She just gets to summon up all the indestructible mama bear rage needed to destroy whatever is about to harm her string bean husband. It didn't feel egregious until the mobster episode but now I can't ignore it.

Any time you think someone is in trouble it's just a question of how long they'll put off Millie eating her spinach and wrecking all the shit.

I mean, that’s part of the problem with her. She’s the one who usually saves the day because they had to make her this cute perfect badass supportive wifey all wrapped into one. Millie is not engaging or interesting, what you see is what you get with her.

And no, her sudden inferiority complex in Unhappy Campers was not a step towards development, it was forced for the sake of a couple’s squabble that was stupid overall.
