Hah, a fanciful thought, but if we go along with Viv's argument that pilots are non-canon and subject to change, imagine if Charlie and Vaggie's lesbian pairing is cut from the full show. As far as I can tell, characterization remains exactly the same because the pilot doesn't present anything about them that friendship doesn't encompass just as well. Even the mean news anchor is portrayed as being so dismissive that she can surely find any number of alternate reasons besides "I don't touch the gays" to demean Charlie.
In fact, I rather envision that splitting Charlie and Vaggie opens up more narrative possibilities for Charlie to have dramatic conflict via sexual tension, not just with Alastor, but also characters/antagonists besides who might have their ambitions set on the literal princess of Hell. Vaggie meanwhile can still be protective of Charlie all the same as a friend who cares about the Charlie's well-being and the mission of the hotel.
